A New Weight Record...I'm Going For the Gold!

Well this morning I saw another weight I hadn't seen in 2 years and it dropped me into the 270's...279.8!  What is it about seeing the next set of 10-digits down on the scale?!    You'd think I won the lottery or something?!

We even had Olive Garden for lunch yesterday but I fit it in by having a protein shake for breakfast (1 scoop powder + 8 oz. unsweetened soymilk = 210 calories) and a black bean burger on a bun with lettuce and tomato at home for dinner.  I did finish the evening off with an Atkins Endulge bar (the one that tastes like a real dark chocolate coconut Mounds bar...heaven!) and a double cup of diet hot cocoa.  By making good conscientious choices during the other parts of the day, I was still able to do Olive Garden for lunch and enjoy myself there.

It feels good to have gotten back into control the past few weeks over my calorie intake.  I think all of these baby steps we are able to make during our waits are so beneficial, don't you?  I feel like I am really setting myself up for success later.

Yes you are setting yourself up for success later, congratulations!  You are pre-op, correct?  Anything you can do to lose weight and get healthier prior to surgery will only aid in your healing and overall success.  Your efforts are commendable!

Take care.
Ellen

Yes, Ellen, I am PRE-pre-op!  lol  I've not even gotten to meet with my surgical group of choice yet.  Started the wheels turning the 1st of July and won't actually have my first appointment, which they call a "class," until September 2nd.  The wait has served me well though...gaining more knowledge, building a support network, regaining control of my choices, etc.  Thanks so much!

Shauna - You are doing great and definitely have the right mind-set.  You go girl!!  BTW, what flavor is that Atkins bar?  It sounds really yummy!

Rhonda,  Actually they are called "Endulge", not Endulgence like I first posted.    The one that tastes like a dark chocolate Mounds bar is called "Chocolate Coconut Bar."  (photo below)  My hubby, a huge Mounds bar lover, absolutely enjoyed the Atkins bar last night.  A box of 5 costs $4.98 at my Super Wal-Mart.  I also bought another flavor that my boys tried and loved as well, "Caramel Nut Chew Bar."  I'll let you know what I think of that one if you like.

They also make a "Peanut Caramel Cluster Bar" that I haven't found in stores yet.  Drugstore.com sells them all.

I wonder about the sugar alcohols post-op?  They are 9g, which multiplied by 2 = likening it to the effects of 18g sugar, if I understand correctly.  At least for now, they are definitely a delightful treat once or twice a week!

I know exactly what you mean...  I got below 150 this weekend and it sure was nice to see 148.8.  I can not remember being in the 140s since right after I got married!

You're doing great!  Keep up the excellent work, Alice

Congratulations, Alice!  It's so cool to see that next number, isn't it?!    And then to realize these personal milestones?  Priceless really!

Shauna

I love your posts!  And if everything goes well, I will be there on Thursday night.  My post-op appt is at 9 am, so I should be cleared to drive.

You are making some great choices.  Congratulations on the *new* numbers on the scales.  It really gives us motivation!  And you will do great when you have surgery.

Baby steps to change some of our old ways can make a difference...

Shelia,  My hopes will be that your post-op appointment goes well and I can give ya a big ol' hug Thursday night!  Well...a gentle one if you're still sore!    The new numbers do give me so much motivation.  It was great to hear your positive experience with your surgery.  Baby steps are what I do best.    Take good care of yourself!

Ohhh..I know how you feel about the weight loss.  I have finally lost another 4 lbs and 204 now. 5 more pounds and I will cut through the 200 mark.  I will shout loud and high.  I thought I was stuck at 208 but the scale finally moved.  I know you are counting the days to get  your wls. Good Luck and plan on success
