Feeling a little lightheaded
So, it's one week today since my surgery. I've been feeling really good up until today. Today I have started feeling really faint. I get up slowly and yet the feeling comes. I was in the shower and my ears started ringing and once again felt like I was going to pass out. I had to get out of the shower and rest on the bed for a while before I could finish my shower. My urine isn't dark and I feel like Im getting enough water.
My diet consist of 2 ozs of optisource 3 xday with water, crystal light etc I did end up eating a small amount of peanut butter and it seemed to make me feel better. I suffered from diabetes and I wonder if maybe I was having a sugar low or something. Any suggestions?

Hiya Ang :)
I haven't heard from you :( I must have talked TOO MUCH the other day and scared you away, huh??!?!
It could possibly be low blood sugar..IF you are feeling up to it, remember that other 2 ozs. of Optisource WON'T hurt you, it is nothing but more nutrients and protein that your body could use. Or it may be low Iron levels. When you see Dr. Pender Monday, he will have you start taking your vitamins, including Iron!! Hang in there and get your rest, if you need ANYTHING, I am just a phone call away!!

I had a very difficult time the first 6 weeks with dehydration. What you are describing sounds exactly like that. I had those feelings regardless of whether or not I was rapidly changing position or just standing up. Laying down made me feel better in the short term, but what stopped it entirely was ensuring I got enough water. Try journaling your actual water/liquid intake, you might not be getting as much as you think.
Take care.

Hi Angie,
Please double check with your info from your Dr., because I was taking 2 ounces of protien (Ensure or Boost) every hour on the hour that I was up for the first 3.5 weeks. Only 2 ounces, 3 x a day seems like you might not be getting enough protien, carbs or total calories. Also, the next time you are feeling so light headed, please check your blood surgar if you have a glucose meter. I'd bet money that you had a low glucose reading. Contact your Dr's office and/or your Nut. to get some advise on how to best handle this.
Hoping you be feeling better soon.

Thank you ladies for all your input. This morning, I measured out my w'llater for the day, checked my blood sugar (104), and drank my optisource. I had increased my optisource to 4 Xper day which should total 12 g of protein. per day. We'll see how today goes and most definately will talk with my doc on Monday. Thank you all for your help.
