Do people here visit each other in the hospital?
Heck ya we visit each other!!! When I had my surgery I had Nancy, Ellen and Alice viist me. At the time another board member who does not post anymore was right down the hall from me so we walked together. I have visited Mindy and Jaimie in the hospital and would do it again in a heartbeat!! it is not creepy at all!!! Its the best feeling in the world to be among friends

It meant the world to me to get visitors when I was in the hospital post surgery. In particular, a friend who is not a participant on this board, who had had surgery about a year before me. She was such a help to me, it meant so much to have someone there that had been through it and had had such great results.
I tried to remember that when others are here at PCMH. I have visited three people from OH so far and would love to continue to do so. I would have visted Iris if I had been more on the ball (sorry Iris). I have offered to visit a few more, but I don't go if they don't respond positively. As you said, each of us has different preferences about visitors. The other issue is getting into step down, or whatever it's called. At PCMH I haven't had trouble thus far, but it was easier when I was with Alice, she has a badge.
Technically, you aren't supposed to visit unless you're a relative except during very specific hours. So, so far I have three new sisters.
If anyone is having surgery at PCMH and would like me to stop by or be their angel, give me a shout, I'd love to do what I can.
Take care.

I know I will welcome walking buddies to visit me when I have my surgery at Wesley Long in Greensboro. I have a group from SparkPeople that is starting to meetup ever so often and they said they would like to visit me. I have to be there for three days so anything to distract me from the fact its a hospital would be a very welcome thing.

I am scheduled for surgery on Thursday at Pitt Memorial and I think it would be wonderful to have someone there for support that understands what you are going thru. I have been told that the first few days you are thinking - what on earth have I done? and I am sure that someone that has "been there, done that" can really help with those feelings.
Anyway, say a prayer for me on Thursday!!

As a "newbie" I haven't been-there-done-that yet, but I am certainly willing to give support!! When I get off work on Friday I'd love to drive up to see you in the hospital. Is that okay? By the way, I've lost 6 lbs in the last 2 weeks! And I'm just "in training!" I can call up to your room on Friday before I come to make sure you're up to a visit first.
