1 Week Postop
One week ago today (8-07-08) I had Lap RNY at Durham Regional Hospital. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would feel so good and happy within this short length of time. The first 3 days had to be the hardest, but that was only because of the liquid diet. I have read so much on this site and it has been so helpful. I thought I was very limited to things, but you only are if you allow yourself to be. Read these post and get ideas here it is wonderful.
I have had very very little pain and have only taken 2 pain pills after surgery. The surgery was so much easier than I ever expected and my surgeon is unbelievable. I feel like I owe her my life as she has certainly given me mine back. I was walking 3 laps in the hospital 4-5 hours after the surgery and went home the next day around 2:30pm. The surgery was a textbook case. The staff and doctors couldn't have been any nicer or accommodating if they tried. I do have one regret like so many others here and that is wished I could have had this done years ago. But, everything happens for a reason.
Today I am making in the Crockpot a fresh pot of Tomato Basil Soup. I strained it and honestly I believe it is the best thing I have ever eaten in my life. LOL well sort of........
I have always like to cook and this is only encouraging me more to find better choices. The sky is the limit now. At Duke WLS you have to do a liquid diet for 3 weeks and it is actually getting easier instead of hard which is a total surprise to me. Of course I have the total support of a wonderful husband and he is also fixing and trying to find me things. I can't thank him enough for that and the love he has shown me during this procedure.
Sorry this post was so long. I just want to encourge anyone that is in the process to give them something to look forward to instead of dreading it. Thank you all that have been posting for our reading enjoyment.

Very glad you have had such a positive experience. Your tomato basil soup sounds oh so scrumptious. Enjoy the support of your wonderful hubby. Don't know what I'd do without mine either!
