Vanity vacation ...

I apologize for seemingly disappearing the past few days  but I've been on a little self-imposed vanity vacation. Yesterday morning I thought I spotted something I hadn't seen in quite some time but then I thought it was merely a hallucination or the after effects of the morphine. Well I spotted these suckers again in the full sun so I knew they weren't shadows.........Girls (and fellas) I'm proud to announce the arrival of my very own ankle bones. They have been hiding out behind puffy, bloated swollen ankles that I'd actually forgotten that I had them.

I'm still at my Mom's house - I'm perfectly capable of going home but she has determined that I need to be here until after Tuesday's appointment (then I can officially drive) We're having a blast. Today was the first day that I really got out (JAIL BREAK BABY). I got my 16 year  old to come get me and I paid for his haircut and then we had a back to school wal-mart trip and a short hop into Food Lion for my flavors of sugar free jello (Moma only likes strawberry). So I spent 4 hours out and about. I took a protein shake in the cooler with me and had my bottle of water.

I know each of us is different in how we recover but I've got to say it is much easier than I had anticipated. The last pain meds I had were when I was still hooked up on the drip in the hospital. The effects of the gas are almost gone. The only time I really notice it is when I'm squirming in bed. I've found that I can comfortably sleep on my right side and I 'm not sure if it's the staples or the gas but the left side gives me a little of a problem. I have the worst case of bad -funky bad breath . I could slay dragons with it.

Optisource vitamins are manna from above. Chewing. Chewing. Chewing.Chewing. I know with taking them I get to chew something 4 times a day. Thank God the orange ones aren't too chalky and don't taste to bad. I think my eyes rolled back in my head and I had a little AHA moment when I chewed the first one the other day.

KDHOBX - I tried to respond to your post about what to take. NOt much is the short answer. I did take a couple of my own pillows, the bare necessities of personal toiletries, a brush and chapstick. They really didprovide me with everything I neeeded.

My Mom's computer is super slow so I probably won't post much in the next few days other than to update on Melissa on Friday but rested assured that I'm here and I'm reading. Oh and to brag on my vanity vacation just a little bit further. The reason the ankle bones have shown up is because I've lost 10 lbs.

Have a great evening.

I am happy that you have had such a great come back.   Like you, i was out shopping (per doctor orders) the day after i got released.  My surgery was in Feb so I had to shop indoors to get some walking..lol.

Hope you continue to improve at a rapid speed!

Take care, Pam

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

LOL...  I laughed at the hidden ankles!  LOL!  I remember when I noticed mine for the first time... just wait until you see your colorbone!  That was cool too!  Anyway, keep up the great work and I hope you'll keep sharing your WOW moments!

Hi Iris, sounds like you are doing great.  I think just about everyone has pain in the upper left side because that is where they put the stapler in and is the largest incision.  I had a huge knot there for about 2-3 weeks.  Small pillows helped me to be able to sleep on my left side.

Get use to finding bones you forgot you had.  I remember laying in bed one evening and realized that I actually still had hip bones.... but warning...  wait until you rediscover your tailbone   (OUCH)

Keep up the great work!  Alice
