Melissa,

I'm with you, girl...  I am so nervous right now - I've been gone since 6 am for this pre-op stuff and just got a call that the upper GI showed some inflammation and that they want to do an EGD in the morning before doing the lapband procedure.  Just what does this mean??  When I asked the NP, I was told that Dr. Hata seems comfortablewith going ahead with the band... But what if he doesn't?  I've never had a problem with digestive stuff...  I don't have heartburn, reflux, burp excessively, have gas... so what gives?

Now - about the unflavored protein powders - Unjury makes one - you can go online to www.unjury.com and order samples.  Didn't take long to get it either.

We need a happy pill.

OK - first of all breath in - breath out - breath in - breath out. Calm down everything is going to be alright. One of the things in my variety pack was an unflavored protein powder - (tried it and won't be ordering it) There was also a mocha achieve one (I gagged). I don't believe in throwing anything away but girl let me tell ya how quick that sucker found a home in the trash can. You're as ready as you can be - you've educated yourself so well that you'll be fine post-op. Plus it gives you something to focus on post -op.

I've put my cell phone on the charger so I'll be awaiting Friday's call.

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I tried the unflavored and it SUCKED... for lack of a better word, it sucked.  All of it is hard to take, but what we tolerated best was the Isopure Vanilla. I mixed two scoops with either a chocolate or vanilla boost/ensure and then drank 2oz every few hours (I think 6 a day)???  I got so sick of the taste that I then started mixing it with the sugar free orangeaide. It tasted similiar to an orangecicle. i think it's all personal preference.

James preferred the strawberry boost with the vanilla powder.  Just get it down as best you can remember it's only temporary.  In two weeks, you will be able to eat applesauce, refried beans and anything pureed like that.

Good luck and i'll be thinking about you. We are flying to Nashville tomorrow so I'll be able to check in real quck on OH, but won't be able to come visit at the hospital. I'll be praying that everything works out there as I know it will! :)

I forgot to say we got our "stuff" at the Pro Vitamin Warehouse off Firetower Rd. I was not impressed by the staff and their lack of knowledge at the GNC in the mall and Pro is cheaper usually! ;)

Screw the unflavored.

Go to vitalady.com and order the bejeezus outta samples.  Really.. they are $2 a pop, but worth the time to try them.  Get 2 of each.. because you might want to have a "taste-off" for any good contenders.

I *heart* BSN's Lean Dessert... good stuff.. and it has all the amino acids you need.
