When did your hunger return?

Hello everyone.  I'm about 7 months out, and I think that my hunger sensation may be returning.  It seems like I've been having this particular feeling more frequently recently, but I'm still not convinced that it is truly hunger pains.  I was really kind of hoping that they would never return!

Hi Rhonda,
I know for me at 6 months out I noticed I wasent having that same full feeling to last as long.
Yes I do have hunger I try not to let it get out of control because when that happens I feel I could eat the house down and more.
Fortunatly my pouch quickly lets me know when enough is enough.
My head on the other hand is kicking and screaming to eat more.
The pouch always wins.

It was about 6 months postop for me.  But I was still able to be satisfied on a small amount of food (and still am).

Hi Rhonda,

I honestly was having 'hunger' issues very early on. I know it's kind of scary, but you will learn to recognize it and satisfy in a safe and healthy way. It's okay and even good to get hungry; you'll just be learning healthier ways to satisfy that hunger when it signals you that it's time to eat. Remember that you never used to 'feel' hungry. Now, you are learning 'feel' hunger. That's a good thing. It's healthy. You are learning to know what it is to be hungry and also know when you are physically satisfied. You will learn to eat to satisify your physical hunger instead of emotional hunger. It's a process, but it's actually empowering.

Wishing you continued success,

Barb

I am about 4 1/2 months out and I have felt hungry only a few times - but, I did not have a protein snack between breakfast and lunch when this happened and I waited too late to eat lunch.  If I eat or drink protein between meals, as a snack, I very rarely get hungry.

Unfortunately, I had to delete this message due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!
