Hello everyone!  I posted here some time ago, I was discouraged with a situation with a particular Surgeon.  I transfered to Dr. Leo Davidson, Village Surgical Assoc. in May of 2008 and my surgery (Rhoune Y Gastric Bypass) was performed on June 30, 2008.  I weighed in at the hospital at 372 lbs., down from 384 lbs. two weeks prior.  My Dr. told me if I didn't loose at least 10 lbs. prior to surgery date he would not do the surgery. It was a great way to motivate me to the life style changing eating habits that are necessary to be successsful on this journey. I came home from surgery no longer taking Insulin, two weeks out I was taken off all other meds for Diabetes and reduced my meds for Hypertension in half!  As of today August 11, 2008 I weigh 326 lbs. and feeling better each day!!  Many of you sent me encouraging words when I posted before and I wanted to say "Thank-You" so much. Your encouragement is what kept me going... Thanks again!

Welcome back Marty!  Congrats on your success so far especially getting off some of your meds.   I think that is one of the best benefits of this surgery.  Keep up the great work!  Alice

Thank you Alice!  Yes, getting off the meds is the reason I underwent WLS.  Of course loosing the weight is "icing on the cake" so to say... Marty

Thank You Wendy!  Oh yes, life is good and getting better each day. I played Golf today, first time in over 5 yrs.  I am a Singer / Musician, Southern Gospel Music, and this past weekend was my first time since surgery to travel and perform.  Before I was "out of breath" after taking the stage and singing a couple of songs...this weekend was totaly different. I had so much more energy!  www.myspace.com/mbrewersings      Marty

Hi Marty,
Congratulations on having your wls.
I know what a great feeling it is to be taken off diabetes meds so fast after surgery.
I tell people I never knew how sick I was till after my surgery.
Keep us posted and we are here for you.
