Happy Bday, Son, & Busy Week Ahead!

It is our oldest sons 19th birthday today!  ~~Happy Birthday, Cody!!!  ~~~  I have to run get a big cheesecake sampler this afternoon for his birthday cake (we'll have to do a groom's cheesecake at his wedding reception too someday!) and we are going to have a family pizza/movie night tonight.  Can't believe this is his last year as a "teen!"

We got as much of the rest of the school shopping done this past weekend as we could.  Still need a few more tops and leather flip-flops for daughter and brown shoes for son, but we just couldn't find anymore *it* things.  You know, "That's IT!  That's what I want!"

Today we head to the doctor's office for daughter's sports physical and then to the vet's office for monthly preventative doggie stuff.  Tomorrow morning is a meeting with daughter's HS counselor and tomorrow evening is son's Meet-the-Teacher night.  Wednesday morning is Freshman Orientation and afternoon hair/brow appointments.  Then Thursday is their first day back to school.  I'm sure I will be saying CALGON by the time it's all over with!

We've been watching the Olympics every spare moment.  Poor hubby was woke by my screaming when the men's relay team pulled off that amazing victory last night!  That's one of those moments in life I will never forget!

Going to see how much reading I can get done here before I hop in the shower.  Have a great week, everyone!

Barb,  Thanks for the birthday wishes!  I do love reminiscing the past and dreaming about the kid's futures.    I'm just so dog-gone proud of them!  It was a lovely whirlwind weekend and will be a hurricane of a week, but I'm prepared for it!

Shauna,
My goodness such a busy week..  take a few minutes for yourself, too.
I always love the family things, too.  My girls are 31 and 28 and have their own families,so now I concentrate on the grandbabies.

Have a great week.

Shelia,  Thanks for thinking of *me!*    I'm the type that makes everything a fun adventure...even trips to the grocery store are usually filled with fun with me...they just take too long for most people!

Today...  I let my daughter drive her VW Bug instead of taking "mom's car," had her in stitches during her doctor visit (her constant "Mom! Shhh!" had me cracking up!), we read every label of every protein bar at CVS while waiting for her prescription, then we found a gob of change someone had left at the vac at the car wash, sprayed each other while washing her Bug, sampled stuff at the grocery store, then came home and collapsed!  (Well, she still had her workout to do...*I*, however, COLLAPSED!!!)

Now see why I'm going to need a Calgon moment by week's end?  I do it to my own self!!!

I can hardly wait to be a grandma.    You are one lucky woman!

Alice,  I am sure I will feel the same way when I'm in your shoes one day...and that day probably won't come soon enough!

After sending our kids to public school, I looked back with amazement at the comment so many public school moms used to make to me about, "I just don't know how you homeschool!  I don't have the (fill in the blank with patience, time, etc.)!"  Well, now that I'm a public school mom too, I can't believe how much patience I have to have and how much work it is to have them in PUBLIC school!    haha!

Melissa,  Thank you!  The cheesecake sampler was dee-lish.    Since we're all calorie counting here at our house, we cut pieces into slivers so we could try various flavors and still technically eat just one piece!

How neat that two of our kiddos are right at the same age.    We also have an older daughter who will be turning 21 in January and our younest son will be 9 on October 15.  What day is our little one turning 2?

I kept telling the kids this past month that their upcoming bdays were all milestones...Meg will be drinking age (oh dear), Cody will be spending his last year as a teen, Cait will turn sweet 16, and E will spend his last year in the 1-digit numbers!  (When I was telling them this, I was also turning the big 4-0 myself!)

I am so thankful for the tax free weekend in NC.  We saved about $50 that weekend which bought plenty of extra things.

Didn't take any photos last night but I just got the kid's permission to post a photo of them taken at a benefit tournament last month.  Daughter is complaining she didn't have her makeup on and oldest son says his hair wasn't fixed right.    So excuse them for looking so hideously horrible.
