Tuesday's Surgery Need Input

I have a laproscopy scheduled for Tuesday for the pain I am having since my RNY surgery.  Dr. Bauman stated he may consider taking the band out.  I was shocked by this and I really didn't speak up.  I am concerned if he takes this out I won't have long term success.  He stated that he is not sure where the pain is coming from and wanted to narrow down the causes.

Should I ask him to leave the band?  What is your expereince with and with out the band with the RNY surgery?

Hi Barbara:

I guess you have the Fobi pouch. I just have the standard RNY and am doing great. I have no clue as to what would happen if they take the band out. I assume it would be like having a typical RNY and would assume that you will be fine, but I really don't know enough about it to be truthful. Us regular RNY's have good success as well. I always thought they did the FOBI with higher BMI's, but it looks like you are a real lightweight. keep us posted as to what happens. Good luck. You will be fine!

Thanks for your input.   I am assuming I have the Fobi Pouch as well.  I now realize how little I know myself.  I am just so nervous and scared.  I don't want to fail.

I also have the fobi pouch. He said it was a simple operation to remove it if it ever becomes a problem. I am hoping I do not have to find out. You have  to as Dr. b. a lot of questions to get a clear answer sometimes. I hope it all turns out well for you.
