My Husband's Band journey

Just a little background.  My DH began his 6 mo diet in Feb.  We thought all his tests would be done July 30. NOOOO  The cardiologist decided he needed a stress test, and because of his BMI it will take 2 days.

So they scheduled the 1st half for today.  We go up and he has the ECHO part and get ready to do the nuclear part.  She explains what he has to do - lay very still while they set the equipment, take the pictures, lay there while they check the pictures and readjust, or continue to take pictures.

My DH is 330 pounds and carries the majority of his weight in his abdoman.  He CAN NOT lay on his back.  He can't breath well and gets a panic attack (he has explained this to every doc he has seen).  So, they can't do this test there.  They will have to send him to the hosp to use a machine where he doesn't HAVE to lay down.  Which means another 2 hr trip up, for half a test, then schedule the other half and drive another 2 hours, on another day for that.

We have company here from Aug 13 to 24th - so he doesn't wanna do it then.  He has jury duty starting Sept 2 - so Lord knows how long that will take.

I have a call in to Dr. Pender's dept of surgery to see if there is somewhere in or near Jacksonville that he can get this done!  We now know this entire thing won't be done until Oct or Nov sometime.  We have accepted that.  But DANG - gas is very expensive!

Just when you think you've got a handle on all the possible expenses and are budgeted for that, there's something else thrown in the mix!  I feel your pain!  {{{Hugs}}}  I guess they don't call them hoops for nothing.  I hope you find someplace near to have this done.

Oh no. You must be so frustrated right now. I hope that you will be able to find someplace closer to do the stress test.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Me to.  Why does a stress test cause so much stress?

I had my fingers crossed that this would work out for today because I know that the drive back and forth is costly.  Just enjoy your family that will be here next week and surely there is somewhere closer to home to do the testing...

We all know how frustrating it must be....
