It was great to see my family and their reactions surprised me a bit

I arrived in San Jose, CA yesterday and saw my sons and in-laws.  I have been sending photos all along, but apparently that doesn't 'really' work because there were a lot of OMGs! I was actually surprised that their reaction was so strong because I saw them last October and I had lost much more weight then, than I have since then. By Oct, I think I'd lost about 70 lbs from the last time they had seen me; between October and now, I've lost about another 35 - 40 lbs. so I had lost much more weight when they saw me in October ... proportionately. I asked my sister-in-law what it was this time that made such a difference and she said that even though the change before was dramatic, I still had a 'round' face and that now I don't. She also said that while I rarely was a slim as she saw me in Oct., she had never seen me this thin. She emphasized that I needed to STOP. I told her I was working on that.

I plan to see some friends and more family this week-end ... They haven't seen me at all since I had the surgery, but have seen photos ... I'm wondering how that will go?

I would imagine more OMG's and WOW's !!!  I am sure it is a great feeling when you have worked so hard at this and now have everyone seeing the results.

Congratulations!  And have fun with your family and friends.  Make some memories.

How exciting!  Of course, your family and friends must be so happy to be able to share in your exuberant new self.   What a treasure you are, and now you're gilded with a sharp figure and a golden smile.

Glad to hear you safely found your way to San Jose!

How rewarding to get that feedback.  It is so dramatic when they don't see you in person on a regular basis.  The 35-40 pounds that you've lost since October brought you within the "normal" BMI range, right?  So I can see what your sister-in-law meant.

Enjoy the other reunions coming up, I'm sure there will be a whole lot more of OMGs!  :)

You are right. The last itme they saw me I was the size of an 'average' woman in the US, but not a 'normal' weight. Now, my BMI is 22, so it's in a normal range. I think that Norma's comment that my face was round the last time she saw me and that a round face is what she is accustomed to seeing when she looks at me, probably hit the nail on the head.  I'm not sure what my face shape is now, but it's not round anymore.
