Breakfast Question

Okay I'm just over 2 months.  My big question is what did you eat for breakfast early out?  Breakfast use to be my favorite meal.  I'm getting bored.  Right now I'm eating either a poached egg (the only type of egg I can get down) or weigh****chers oatmeal.  Then I get ready for work and drink a glass of milk on the way to work.  I seem to do better if I get most of my protein in my first two meals.  I have tried greek yogurt but I can't find things to add to it to make it taste ok.  Thanks for your help!

I also ate cream of wheat with protein powder mixed in.  Trick to the protein powder on that to keep it from clumping up in the heat is add about 3/4 of a scoop to some milk or water (not too much) and blend it really well (I just wisk it with a fork) then add it to the cream of wheat.  Makes a nice filling breakfast with a protein kick you can't taste (I use vanilla powder for all my cooking with protein)

Of course I made omlets too with salsa or diced tomatoes and mushrooms

Added different fruits to my oatmeal to mix up the flavor

Just had yogurt and fruit (adding a bit of protein powder to my yogurt)

I like to mix in sugar free jellies or jams and a little bit of Equal or Splenda with the Greek yogurt.  You can use any type of jelly or jam or even marmalade so you can get a variety of different tastes that way.  I'm also not a really big lover of typical breakfast foods, so I ate fat free refried beans with a little bit of shredded cheese on top.  That is still one of my favorite meals, but now I add a few jalapeno slices for extra flavor.   I also still do protein shakes at least once a day to make sure I get enough protein.  Many times, I'll drink it in the morning for breakfast.  I think it's smart of you to try to mix it up a bit; I know in the past for me at least, boredom didn't bode well for me to take smart choices.  Even with the aid of our surgery, we still need to make smart choices.  Good luck and it sounds like you're doing great!

I stick to pretty much the samething each day it just works for me.
About a month ago I found out I do very well with Lactaide 1% milk with my protien powder.
I normally will have a shake and my cup of coffee or I will have a protien bar with my coffee.

My favorite breakfast foods are yougurt with a little granola or South Beach High Protein Cereal Bars (love the cinnamon raison).  They are found on the cereal isle, usually on the top shelf (at least at Foodlion).  I also try to drink 8 oz of 1% milk  in the morning and in the evening.

I'm not post-op but I had grits with a dab of Smart Balance Light and a bit of Splenda yesterday.

Grits are also to-die-for when you mix in some Smart Balance, green onion, bacon bits, cheese, and shrimp!

By the way, what is Greek Yogurt and why do I see it posted here on these forums so much?  Can't believe there's something I actually haven't heard of before!  ha!

Hi Shauna,
The greek yogurt most of us talk about is called Fage one serving has a good amount of protien.
I prefere the 0% fat one.
What I do is I usally can handle about 6oz and put a kitchen teaspoon of lime curd on top.
I never thought I would like unflavored yogurt but something about this stuff is great.
I sota relate eatting this stuff to having something very yummy like an ice cream suday (sp)
You shrimp and grits sounds like something to die for.
Then again most everyting I eat I swear it is the best ever. LOL

Sugar Free Carnation Instant Breakfast.  I did the powder and mixed it with 1% milk.  It's still one of my standards.  The other ones are scrambled egg with a little bit of onion, mushroom and chopped up ham lunch meat, or Special K Protein Plus Cereal with 1% milk and a few chopped strawberries or blueberries.

Could you have cottage cheese? That has a good amount of protein in it.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!
