Newbie..kind of! lol

hello! my name is Jaimee and i live in Jacksonville NC!  i have been a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig time lurker!  i was going to wait until i actually got approved for my RNY to introduce myself but its taking to long and i cant wait! :)   I have been waiting for about a year for the surgery.. doing the work up and all that exciting stuff..haha.  i went to a preop appt a month ago and the hospital was going to submitt my paper work to Tricare so i thought i would have an answer by now but i called and they didnt even send the stuff till friday!  im kinda frustrated with that.. but as long as  i get approved thats all that matters! so pretty much right now im just in the worrying stage of getting approved or not.  im more worried about that then the actual surgery!  im 5'9 and 275lbs with no health problems, my BMI is almost at exactly 40.. but we lied and said i was 5'8 to make my bmi 42.. hehehe.. so i really hope i get approved!!!!    everyone here seems so amazing and i cant wait to actual interact with u guys and not just be a stalker! lol    *for anyone that lives in the jacksonville area i will be attending the meetup at Logans on the 5th and i am very excited about it! i cant wait to meet everyone!

Hello and welcome, Jaimee!  Isn't the waiting stuff the worst?!  I, like you, am more anxious about getting through all of the waiting stuff and being approved than I am about the surgery.    It's good to use the time though to get more and more informed, prepared (mentally AND physically), and get that support system built up strong...including here at OH, so I'm glad you introduced yourself!  Looking forward to getting to know you better!

Good luck on your approval.  I am to waiting on approval from Tricare.  It took the doc 3 weeks to submit mine.  It was submitted on the 23rd so now like you said its a waiting game.  And welcome to the NC board.  You will find some great support here.

Hi there - the waiting game is horrible. Mine took almost a month because it ended up on the wrong person's desk - call somebody everyday. Between calling insurance and the doctor's office I think I had everyone afraid to answer the phone.

Dr. MacDonald is wonderful. Glad you came out of hiding - enjoy it here.

Hi Jamie, Welcome.   Stay on top of the doctor's office.  I started the process with Dr. James Harris in April.  I got my approval and surgery day about 3 weeks ago.  My husband is retired Navy and we also have Tricare.
