1 month appointment but did not get feeding tube out
Today was my 1 month appointment. Yea I have lost 27 lbs. but half of it was water weight and Dr. is concerned that if my body keeps this up I will become dehydrated. So I have to keep the feeding tube for 10 more days and put 16 oz. of boost down it for 6 of those days. Plus I have to try and increase my calories. For once in my life a Dr. told me I need to eat more. Can you believe it I am not eating enough.
All your life people have probably been telling you that you eat too much...now it's not enough...LOL...I'm sorry you didn't get to have your tube removed. Have you had it since your surgery in June? Why did you need a feeding tube if you don't mind me asking?

My Dr. places a feeding tube on surgery date and it is to remain in for 1 month so that you can get adequate water and protein while you are learning to eat and also while swelling of new pouch goes away.
He finds this is the best way for his patients not to be hopitalized again and to be more succesful from the start.
I have had it since June 23, 2oo8 and I am very ready to be tube free. It is not painful but just annoying to have something there that shouldn't be.
I don't know how people who have to have these for long term handle it.
