Post Op Day 3: I'm Home

Awe...I feel for ya! It's nice that you had your parents take care of you like that...who can resist!
Sorry your having so much nausea. I took phenergan every 4hrs with my Lortab and it really kept me as comfortable as possible. I never waited to be in pain, I kept up with a round the clock dosing and it always seemed that I woke up right around my next dose time. Have you contacted your Doc about the vomiting? Maybe you could see if you can get a refill on your zofran so that you can take it round the clock at least for this first week while your on clear liquids?
As far as the HUNGER, yup.... It stinks! Just try to drink as much as possible to help you feel like you have something in your belly. Sip, sip, sip....
Hope things get better for you! Hang in there!

As for the hunger, I am sure the lap banders can help you with ideas to keep you satisfied. I think that it's probably worse for those with lap band because you don't start getting the restriction until after you're able to get your fills, even though there is some in the beginning when you have the band placed. You'll deal with a LOT of head hunger, too, and it won't be easy. This is definitely NOT the easy way out that folks think it is for any of us.
Do try to get those fluids in because that will not only keep you hydrated, but also it'll help with the hunger aspect. Just sip, sip, sip all day. If you're awake, you should have something close by at all times to keep sipping on. Put yourself some unflavored protein powder in whatever you're drinking and keep on sipping ... it'll help keep you satisfied, too. I added it to chicken broth and beef broth in the first 2 weeks and that helped until I could move on to more solid foods.
I wasn't "hungry" for at least 6 months, and still have days where I'm really not hungry and then others where I'm ravenous but fortunately fill up on very little food amounts. It's harder for band patients, I do believe. But once your fills start, you'll do fine. Just keep on drinking (sipping)!

Great to get a update from you. I know the pain hurts but as each day passes you will get better!!
About being hungry... after my RNY my doctor has a Post Op two week liquid diet... and when I say liquid I do not mean cream soups or yogurt.... it was chicken/beef broth, protein shakes, SF popsicles or SF Jello. You can ask anyone here about how I whined and complained and even cried how starving I was!!! I was dying for SOMETHING.. so I took matters into my own hands and ate some SF pudding.. I felt INSTANTLY better LOL I am NOT telling anyone to do this... I had to eat something before I lost my mind.. my blood sugar was dipping down really low and I couldnt handle it anymore so thats what I did. I called my surgeons office explaining how weak I was, how I needed just SOMETHING and the nurse said NO NO NO that no yogurt and no cream of chicken soup and NO pudding.. well long story short I didnt follow the liquid diet for two weeks I did my own modified one but ALWAYS follow what your doctor tells you.. I did my own thing for my own well being and survived. Best of luck to you!!!
