The Pain

My DBF and I went out to eat Saturday and I had a small cup of tomato bisque soup.  I ate it, he said quickly, and within in 5 monutes or less I was in horrendous pain.  My pouch area was in knots and the pain was almost unbearable.  I went to the restroom and thought I'd probably throw up - but no.  Just the grinding horrific pain.  I couldn't keep my shorts buttoned it hurt so badly.  We left the resturant and I unbuttoned and unzipped my shorts and sat in the truck seat.  He wanted to take me to the hospital but I refused to go.

Within an hour the pain left and now I feel as if someone punched me, hard, in the belly area.  What the heck was this???

Needless to say, I ate nothing the rest of the day and only liquids yesterday.

Anyone go through this or know what may have happened?

Thanks,
Dianne

Bisque is made with cream.  If you have even a *touch* of lactose intolerance, cream will send you up a wall.  I had this exact same feeling several times after eating food made with cream, and I really wanted to die each and every time.

Yes, I agree with Andrea... it does sound as though you had a classic episode of dumping.  There appears to have been SOMETHING in the bisque that your pouch didn't appreciate.  And pouches don't "mince words" as it were!

Yup, I agree with Andrea.  I have had the same sensations, usually when I eat cream, ice cream, even milk.  I can do a little cheese or yogurt and be okay, but anything too "liquid-y" or higher in fat, and I'm in pretty intense pain.  I try to stay away from most of it, but I do occasionally eat a little tiny bit of ice cream, just enough to remember why I don't.  To me it feels like I've swallowed tacks or razor blades.

Let us know what you find out, if you called your doctor.  I always love to learn.

Take care.
Ellen
