The Good The Bad and The Ugly

I had to get on that scale this morning and I have lost 5 of the 9lbs I gained since last saturday.
I am dedicated to recording my intake and fitness every day now.
I am wearing a dress that has been hanging in my closet for x number of years it still had the tag on it.
I was able to put the dress on zipped up without having to unzip it.
Lee had to open this morning at the market so I did not have anyone here to zip me up and low and behold I was able to put it on and tie the sash myself in the back.

I am on my way to take mother to get her pacemaker today at UNC we did not know this till late yesterday.
I know I can do this and have arranged to have her nurses come to the hospital to do thier shifts.
I am mothers power of attorney so it is a must I have to be there today.
Hopefully all will go well and I will report back later today.
One more thing I am having a hard time figuring out how many calories I need a day minus the calories I am burning.
I average more than 1000 that I burn with exercise.
If someone could help me with that it would be great.
Then I think well I must be doing something right to have lost those 5lbs maybe I dont need any more calories and just keep doing what I am doing.

Good morning, Annie.  :)  I am so glad to hear you went ahead and stepped on the scale since you were able to see 5 of the 9 gone already.  Yay!  Journaling is such a great tool.  Even my 18yo son takes up journaling his food and exercise when he sees his weight going up because it keeps him in check (he is average weight).  Like we were talking yesterday, if you are burning 1,000 cals/day, I would be worried to eat any less than 1,800 and I think the 2,200 max you told me about in your email sounds reasonable.  Either way you would be netting 800-1,200 and that just sounds right to me.  Hopefully someone else will have *real knowledge* about it!  :)

How awesome about the dress too!  Nothing tastes as good as thin feels, right?  ;)  Keep up the GREAT work!

Woke up thinking of you and your mom the moment I opened my eyes this morning.  I hope her surgery goes very well and you have a peaceful day today, Annie.  Sening you {{{hugs}}}.

Hi Annie,

Congratulations on the 5 lb weight loss! Keep up the good work.

I love hearing of those wow moments that we have; like being able to not only wear the dress, but to be able to put it on without unzipping it. It must have been the cherry on top of the weight loss.

I know how hard it is to be the one who is responsible for our parent's care ... as we have talked, we are in the same boat with that one and I'm in the lobby at Duke as I sit here and type this note waiting for my mother ... she's having two procedures today. I know that you are able to do this and that it is a loving gift from you to her that she surely appreciates more than words can ever say.

Here is a site that has a tool that you can use to give you a broad overview of your resting metabolic rate. I would check this information with your own nutritionist, but it will probably give you a guideline you can use. http://www.structurehouse.com/tools_mr.html. If you want more definitive and complete testing you can contact Merideth College. They have a comprehensive program that can tell you more about your RMR, body fat composition analysis, calorie use analisys and more. You can access this information at http://www.meredith.edu/hess/lab/testing_specifics.htm.

As always, wishing you continued success,

Barb
