A few questions (especially for Hickory Surgical patients)...

I am wondering how many of my office visits my husband (my support person) is going to have to attend?  I know he has to go to the 3-hour info session with me and he has to come on the day I meet with the surgeon.  Is there any other visits he is required to attend with me?

Also, when in the scheme of things did you do your psych consult?

Thanks bunches!  :)

My husband came w/ me to the info class and to the Pre-Op appt. but that was all....Jock said I was a Big Girl and I could come by myself if I wanted *G*

I started the whole process in Oct. and I think I had my psych eval pretty quickly...not later that Nov. I am sure.  I didnt' have surgery until Apr. 10th though....Ins. took FOREVER!!!!

If you have your surgery at Frye, I think you will be happy w/ the Support Staff there as well as the Dr's  I had Dr. Cox do my surgery only because Dr. Cook was booked farther out.  I am sure either will do a great job for you!!

Good luck and if you have any other quetions, just let me know!

Hi DD.  :)  Thank you for your reply.  I'm so relieved to hear that your hubby only attended the two visits.  I'm sure we could work out more, but we'd rather my hubby not have to miss any more work than that!

I'm sorry your insurance took so long!  I hope mine doesn't take long to credit my deductible for my psych evaluation because I can see that being the one thing holding things up.  I went ahead and scheduled my psych eval for the week following the class...hoping I didn't jump the gun.

Thanks also for the positive input about Frye and Drs. Cook & Cox.  We are really looking forward to seeing everything and meeting everyone.

I'm so happy for you about your 63lb loss in a little over 3 mos!  Were they able to do your surgery lap?  Best wishes to you!

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I did have the Lap and I was sooo glad!  Recovery time was almost nothing.  I came home on Sat. and didn't need pain meds after Sat. night.  The only time I really hurt was getting up and down so I didn't really think it was worth taking meds for that short amount of time. *G*

HI, Shauna!  I was told that my hubby had to go to all my pre- op appoints with Hickory Surgical and of course, be there on surgery day.  I hope this helps!  Just give them an call and ask.  Hope you have a great day!

Hi Andrea  :)  I guess we'll need to ask how many pre-op appointments with Hickory Surgical that there are going to be.  Will be sure to do ask that during our class visit.

Hubby will definitely be there with me on surgery day!  I've been through a lot of hospital stays, mostly with pregnancy complications, and he's always been right at my side.  I'd be lost without him.  :)
