One year later. . .

Hello all! Well, it's been a year since surgery (actually on the 10th but I'm always running a bit behind nowadays!!) and man, how life has changed!!! I've lost a total of 133 lbs and am only 13 lbs away from my goal weight. But even if I never see that "magical" number on the scale, I'm perfectly happy where I am right now. I have gone from a size 26/28 to a 12/14 misses. How exciting is that???? I am still having head issues as far as seeing myself as a "normal" weight person. I don't know if that will ever get any better. But anyways, I know that healthwise I am 100% better than I was a year ago and I feel fabulous!! Does weight loss surgery solve all of life's problems? Of course not. My life is still as hectic as ever and I have my ups and downs just like everyone else but now at least I don't have the weight problems to deal with on top of everything else. I credit a lot of my success to the wonderful people here on the NC board. Y'all are truly the greatest!!!! Thanks for always being there for me!!

For those just beginning their journey, good luck and God speed!!! I know it seems like it takes forever just to get to the surgery date but trust me when I say it is well worth it. To those who are well into their journey, keep on keepin' on!! Y'all are such inspirations to me and countless others too.

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

Always good to hear from you Donna. You certainly have travelled a lengthy and diverse path since your surgery a year ago. I am always astounded by the incredible courage and strength and personal growth that I see evidenced in this forum subsequent to this surgery. It certainly alters more than our bodies! My congratulations and best wishes for your continued success!

Donna, I just looked at your before/after photos and WOW! :) You look wonderful! From a current 26/28 size wearer, a 12/14 misses is SOOO EXCITING! Tell your mind to catch up quick...you deserve your personal adoration. ;)

Thanks so much for the good luck and especially the God speed vibes for us newbies. I'm not being impatient but I am very excited...and sometimes the two feel very much alike!
