I feel you need to find what works best for *you*.
Personally I am a person of moderation... if I want a cupcake, a slice of *real* pizza, fried french fries I will have them - but I will hold myself accountable for it and keep it as a 'treat' and an 'occasional' thing. I could never sit here and say that for the rest of my life I would never eat this or never eat that... I have not banned any foods... however there are many foods I choose to no longer eat because I just dont care for them and nutrition wise they didnt do much anyways - i.e. mcdonalds food... but if one day I feel like a mcdonalds cheeseburger then I may decide to have one and I will *not* feel bad about it - well at least not mentally, physically that could be a different story!!
I do not think its good to think things are 'ok' because you are not eating a lot of them... that thinking can get you in trouble - even if you eat 1/2 or a 1/4th you should still know nutritionally what you are consuming and hold yourself accountable... 1/2 can still pack a lot of fat/sugar/calories etc... I know its a lot less than one would have eaten pre-op which makes it seem better, just know what you are getting into.
Also if you are going to have a treat really enjoy it - you will find that 1 piece of *good* chocolate can really satisify you if you put 100% focus on it... if you mindlessly eat it you will consume much more because you are not getting the full experience. Sometimes if you allow yourself a small treat that will curb you from further eating... if you keep holding off to the point of exploding you may eat much more - but again you cant just give in to all whims you have to decide if what want to eat is worth it and hold yourself accountable.

I really work on keeping myself accountable. I think that not being accountable is part of what got me in trouble in the first place, so I 'account' for everything I put in my mouth. I also have rules I follow.
I can have ANYTHING I want in moderation
I always have protien first, followed by complex carbs, followed by anything else I want ... there's usually not much room for the 'anything else.'
Like Jennifer, I don't think that I could handle having to 'ban' particular foods. I'd rather be accountable and enjoy things mindfully and in moderation.
I think it's important to learn moderation and accountability to ensure long-term success. If you only count on the size of your pouch, you can get into trouble because you can get a lot of 'grazing' into the pouch, as well as calorie dense, slider foods and drinks.
Enjoy, but do so mindfully and carefully.

I am with everyone else here. While you can't completely ban some foods from your life, moderation is the key. My husband keeps Reese minatures in the freezer (a bag will last him months) and if i need a chocolate fix once in a great while ..i will eat one and make it last and savor every bit of it. I also love D**** cream and if my family wants to go, I will go with them if my calories for the day allow and get a small vanilla cone which is more than enough and i normally hand half of it off to my husband or kid.
Remember....an occasional treat in moderation is fine. My surgeon told me, if there is cake and you want a bite, take it but keep it at at bite.
Bend over girl....here comes the swift kick!
Good luck, Pam
