I'm new to the forum and instead of bugging you incessantly with my inane questions I thought I would say hi first, thank you for the info and then but you with my inane questions.  So hello, nice to "meet" all of you.

Nice to meet you too - and you have to put up with me having a surgery date and a whole new exercise mentality. So bring on the questions.

LOL, in my career, I'm used to people getting focused on something so that shouldn't bother me at all.  Congrats on the surgery date, I am still in the process of getting all my medical records so I can go into surgical review with Duke.  I am worried about approval so I'm here looking for info.

I just wanted to add - You've come to the right place. You'll find answers to most any question you can imagine either here or on the main boards. The folks here are by far the nicest you'll ever meet. and usually you'll find others who are in the same stage of the WLS process as yourself. Ask away on the questions. I've come to respect the folks on here because they are so willing to share their experiences with us. I've yet to read a reply on this forum that belittled anyone. No question is off limits/dumb/ or anything of the sort. You'll find some truly motivational and inspirational folks on here. They'll share their victories and their downfalls.

Good Luck on this journey.

There be a meeting this Saturday in Raleigh if you're interested.  The group keeps getting larger and larger and there are people at all stages of the surgical process that come together.

Barb can get you the exact details.. it's her gig :-)  But I'll be there with my tagalong (kiddo).

Band to DS

Unfortunately, I had to delete this post due to privacy concerns.

Got a lap band in 2008. Tried hard, but didn't lose much weight & developed swallowing problems. Fought my insurance company for almost a year & finally had a band to DS revision on 5/11/12. Have now lost 125 pounds. Yay!

I live in Raleigh, by night I am a superhero by day I am an attorney.  I just turned thirty and I have been unhappy with my weight for as long as I can remember.  After struggling with inferlity for three years, I decided enough was enough and I was going to do something about my weight once and for all.

I started a diet in January and was doing well, I lost about 30lbs, my brother passed away in April and I have put back on about 10.Right now I am getting my info together so that I can get approved by insurance to have the surgery.

I'm 5'5 320lbs and I have no co-morbid conditions (unless you count inferlity).

Hello and so nice to "meet" you!  :)  I am fairly new to this forum myself but feel like I am making the *bestest* of friends as I make possibly the *bestest* decision of my life, for my life!  ;)

My deepest sympathies to the passing of your brother.  {{{Hug}}}

So glad you have decided to do this for yourself.  I'll be looking forward to hearing how your insurance pursuit goes.  Please keep us posted and best of luck!
