Hello everyone. Hope you're all doing good. I have a couple of questions I hope someone can help me with.

First....I need to know how to pickle cucumbers that we can eat. Is it possible to use splenda in place of sugar. We are going to have more cucumbers then we will be able to eat so I wanted to find a way to use them.

Second.....Does anybody know of a good place to stay at Myrtle Beach? I was wanting to go sometime next month but don't have any idea where to stay. With the price of gas I need to find a place thats reasonable. Any ideas?

No idea on the cukes.. the only thing we ever did was add onions and vinegar to them.

As for the hotel.. I found a La Quinta in North Myrtle Beach which wasn't horrible.  Ran me $89 or so a night through travelocity.  Had an outdoor pool, all indoor entry, a breakfast (although it was all carbs..)..  It was about 25 minutes from the Ripley's Aquarium (the boardwalk I think it was called).

If you're interested, I can see if I can find the info for it.

Thanks for the info. We were really hoping to find a place at Myrtle beach but I will keep this one in mind.

Hey Patsy!  I just did my cukes last week, and yes, I did use splenda on some of them.  If you need a recipie give me a PM and I will send it to you.....or do you just need to know the process?  I can help with either. I only know bread and butter, but you can also go on www.ball.com and I THINK that's a website where they will give you more info.

Let me know..........Nancy

Hi Patsy,

I did a quick search on 'pickled cucumbers splenda' and came up with the following recipe links:

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2007/jul/04/splenda_lacks_sugar s_preservative_properties/

http://food.yahoo.com/recipes/splenda/106792/sweet-and-crunc hy-deli-style-pickles

https://muextension.missouri.edu/stcharles/qfk/Aug06/no-sug. html

http://www.recipelink.com/mf/20/6096

Several looked interesting. I think you could take your own seasonings that you might normally use and just use the rest of the recipe for the vinegar and splenda porportions and timing from some of these recipes.

Hope you enjoy!

You can pickle cucumbers with splenda, just remember it's pound for pound like sugar and that would be VERY expensive.

That is so true it can be expensive. But I don't want to loss my cukes and I do love pickles. I will not be pickling all of them...I plan to give some of them to people who were not as blessed.
