I have not any weight in 2 weeks!
My name is Joann and I had gastric bypass surgery on May 6, 2008. I have lost 60 pounds so far. For the last 2 weeks I have lost nothing. I am keeping a food journal and eating low fat, low sugar, and low calorie foods. I am drinking plenty and water and taking all of my vitamins. I am walking a mile everyday. This is stuff that have never done in life.
I was so happy to be losing weight and now it is driving me crazy! I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I makes me very sad to came this far. The doctor says that everyone has these times of no weight loss, but it should not be this long right?
Joann:
It is perfectly normal to have points where you don't lose and two weeks is not uncommon. The way I think you should look at it is the average overall. There were times when I crept along but over the course of a year I lost close to 120 pounds which is 10 pounds average a month. I was considered somewhat of a lightweight so the weight wasn't gonna drop as fast for me as for some others but regardless we all drop at our individual pace. Try not to stress. Heck 60 pounds in two months for you took me at least 4 to 5 months I think. So, don't fret, your doing great. Keep on doing what you're doing. By the way, you may be dropping inches all while not losing at the moment.

You have done fantastic to lose 60 lbs in 2 months girl. That is almost a lb a day. Our bodies cannot keep up at that pace and think we are starving ourselves so it stops for 2 to 3 weeks. We have all been there and it is so normal. Dr. M was also my doc and said it was perfectly normal. Now if you have the tiredness and lack of energy with it, it may be time to see your PCP to see if anything else is going on. I ended up having my thyroid tested and it was low which i was told is common after surgery and in the throes of menopause.
Your take care and have patience and it will start dropping again. Maybe not at that fast of a pace, but it will come off!
Take care, Pam
It has taken me 4 months tol lose the same amount - so don't worry. I had not lost for the last two weeks, but I could tell I was losing in inches. This morning I weighed and had dropped 5 pounds - so your body will just do what it wants, but don't get discouraged. WHEN was the last time you lost 60 pounds in 2 months? Take care and enjoy the ride!!

I have a new philosophy, I'm only going to dread one day at a time. Charlie Brown
