eating the day before surgery

I am having surgery tomorrow and I am pretty nervous. My doc hasn't put me on any restrictions about eating except that I can't eat or drink anything after midnight. I am on a high protein low carb diet but should I have been worried about eating today?

I would trust your Dr. Generally, they have people go on a special diet prior to surgery if they are concerned that your liver is enlarged. I was on the same type of diet that you have been on and I was not required to have a special diet prior to surgery, with the exception of having to do a bowel prep the night before and that required clear liquids. Each Dr has done a lot of research and has developed a protocol that works well for them.

Every doctor is different and what they require. The night before my surgery I had a whopper and a slice of pie Some would say that was bad but I am glad I had those things. It left me with a good food memory.                                       Annie
