Hating WLS right now :( *vent*

Had to post here because I know you all understand what this is like :( I went to the doctor for my one month check up and things went HORRIBLE.  In 3 weeks (since I saw him for my 2 week post op visit)  I lost ZERO pounds and GAINED 1 POUND?!?!  I have been keeping a food journal, eating correctly, doing my vitamins, doing 1.5 miles each day etc etc etc..... I cried right there in his office and he talked with 2 other doctors.... my labs were fine. He was puzzled and then his nurse came in and said me how do I weigh my food. I told her I weight it on a digital scale and she laughed and brought the Doctor in and he laughed and said that was the problem..... I was so upset!  She explained that it's not about how much the food weighs it's volume and to measure with a cup etc etc.... I still don't understand how this could happen and I have been working so hard. Has anything like this happened to anyone so close to their WLS surgery date? Thanks for the support and reading my vent. -Meagan

Awe, sorry you had such a rough visit.  You are so early in the game and relearning how to eat it hard to do.  Go ahead and cut some slack.  The pound could be for various reasons. Keep track of your in take and give yourself some slack you are almost brand new post op.  I had my biggest weight loss around April and I had WLS in Feb.  Everything takes time. Good LUck and you will do fine.  Check out Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.  I often rented it from the library and it was a great resource.

Oh, I am sooo sorry to hear you've gone through this!  I just had my RNY almost 2 weeks ago, and I think I would be crying too!  Please, don't beat yourself up over this.  At least you know why----now you can make the changes needed, and move forward.  Did you talk at all about doing an "extended" liquid diet to get some weight off & "jumpstart" your body?  I don't know if that's possible, but worth asking, maybe?  Definitely get some 1-1 time with the nutritionist--you deserve it!!  Keep your head up, and know that this was the right decision, and it's going to get better!

(((((Meagan))))),

Honey, I"m so sorry that you had such a rough visit. I'm sure that it must have been really frustrating, but I hope that you know that a lot of us 'who are measuring' instead of weighing have had struggles where we didn't lose. It scared the begeebers out of me, but then a few days later I started losing. I'm sure that you'll do fine. If necessary, I'd ask to meet with the Nut. if things don't start moving soon. It will get better and you will lose.

Take care and be gentle with yourself.

Hang in there,

Barb

Meagan, Listen to your pouch. Sounds like you are doing a great job of doing the right things. I dont measure my food I listen to my pouch something my surgeon told me from the first day after surgery and I have always listen to my pouch. When Bubbles feels full I stop.                                               Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

Meagan, keep your chin up.  Your working so hard to do the right stuff and the weight loss will come.   I know it must be frustrating but you'll get there and listen to your pouch, take your time eating and make it last at least 30 minutes.  I find it to be a chore almost to finish my food.  Don't get discourged!!!
