33 days to go

Oh my gosh - I have less than 5 weeks until surgery. I've been joking the girls that I work with that the biggest surprise in this whole adventure is going to be finding out that I was really hyperactive my entire life. ( I can nap at the drop of a hat) Like I told Annie in an earlier post - I've got menus made for everyday of my preop diet. The nesting instinct has set in and I've rearranged my entire house (bedroom, living room & kitchen). I'm precooking meals for my teenagers and freezing them. I've taken the dogs to the vet for their shots and checkups. (Marley got fixed - she's my 9 month old great dane - or as we call her the Great Dame because she thinks she's royalty) I've read and reread my WLS books. My WLS for Dummies is dog earred and has about 3000 post it notes sticking out of it. I've spent so much time waiting for things to happen that now I guess I'll watch the grass grow. Oh there are no weeds in my flower pots either. I've plucked those suckers clean. I really don't think it's nervous energy cause I'm really at ease with my decision to do this. I started my preop Adkins diet on the 1st and once the brain fog lifted on Friday from breaking the carb monsters control I really haven't felt this good in years. Was there anything you guys and girls wish you had done prior to surgery that didn't? And yes I added exercise to this lifestyle a while back so my walking and swimming helps keep me sane too. I've even put a basket on my bike so I can take the trash off to the dumpsters down the street.   - Iris

Iris,

It sounds like you are good to go. Just keep up with all of your activities. Be sure to get before photos: front, back and profile. Make sure to smile and have your best face forward because you'll want to refer these photos often. Also, if you haven't gone there yet, go to www.thinnerself.com. Go to the 'chart weight and inches' button and get one of your teenagers to help you take all of the measurements so that you have starting reference point. The reason I'm telling you to use this site to document your measurements, is that it has a graphic that will show you 'what you look like now' and 'what look like' in reference to those original measurements as you loose inches. It's a great way to 'see' the changes when you are having trouble getting your head around all of the weight you are losing. I took measurements and new photos once a month during the first year. Sometimes the scales can be so frustrating, but usually when the scales are being stingy the measuring tape shows the real progress.

I kno wtha tyou are going to be very successful and make the most of this opportunity to change your life because you are already making changes and seeing the benefits.

Wishing you continued success in your life-changing journey,

Barb
