What are considered "soft foods"?
Each program will define things somewhat differently. You can go to my profile and check in late June/Early July 2007 to see what they recommended to me in detail, but the jist of it was anything that could be cooked or eaten raw that was 'fork tender' ... i.e., you could easily cut it with a fork ... Also no seeds, skins or strings. That said, beans were a favorite soft food. I nearly lived on chili and other soups made with beans. Any meat that is tender enough that you can cut it with a fork was okay for me too. My soft foods didn't have to be 'mushy' ... just fork tender. Be sure to check with your Nut to be sure what they want you to be doing.

I did okay with refried beans and pintos if I chewed them very well. I would stay away from rice because it's so starchy, and you don't want it swelling in your pouch, either. You could probably also try something like tofu and season it. Have you tried hummus? It's pretty good, and very soft. How are you doing since you went home? I thought this might be you and I have been thinking about you! Are you getting in your protein okay?
