Does anyone have BCBSNC? I am waiting on approval and just wanted to know how long it usually takes to get an answer back from insurance?

It took just about two weeks for the clinic to get my approval back. I think it came back approved on or about June 4th and my surgery is scheduled for August 4th.

I have BCBSNC, but their office hasn't submitted mine yet.  I hoping it will go this week!!!  The office said it takes about 1 week for BCBSNC to give an answer!  When did the office submit it???

I have BCBS State Teachers PPO. Nothing goes to the insurance company until all of your paperwork is in and signed off on by the Doctor.  It took two days for my approval.  Once the basics are done things will move faster.

Hey Gurl, How are you doing? I have BCBSBNC, I had approval once they got it, within 24 hrs. The thing that took the longest for me was staying on top of the gurls at Dr. P's office to make sure  they had everything they needed to send it in.  I was constantly emailing them and calling them. Dr. P. signs off of his paperwork that is on his desk daily. He will not be the one to hold it up. It's your health take charge and make sure they have what they need...... I knew I was approved before Dr. P's office contacted me. I called BCBCNC to make sure they received it and they said, yes we did and you are approved. I called Dr. P's office and the rest is history...........  I am so excited for you........... good luck I love my FOBI pouch.....................

Made it to ONDERLAND!!!!!!!

It's my understanding that BCBS of NC is pretty quick, as long as all your t's are crossed and your i's dotted. (One of the main reason the surgeons make it mandatory that they sign off on your "surgical packet.")  BUT, BUT, BUT, I did want to say that insurance companies in NC reserve the right to take up to 30 days to review a request. And that is 30 days form the day they get it, not the day that the office sends it in (some insurance companies will not allow you to fax in the requests.).  Like I said it is my understanding that BCBS of NC is pretty quick, I just wanted to take a moment to post something I have heard A LOT "reserve the right to..." for other people that may be using other insurance companies. Good Luck! Can't wait to see you "over here" on the losing side!
