Well as I'm trying to prepare for surgery my mind goes to coming home after surgery..so here is my question.. What did you wear home after surgery and if you were not comfortable what do you wish you had worn instead? I'm 3 1/2 hours away from where I'll be having mine (I'm in Lenoir and having it at Duke) so I want to be comfortable. I love picking your minds because ya'll have so much info to offer! Thanks, Debbie

Hi Deb,

I wore a dress that I could wear without a bra ... I had an over jacket that camoflaged the lack of undergarmets. I had gallbladder surgery about 14 years ago and had remembered that I was rather 'bloated' and had a number of small incisions. My choice worked out well when it was time to come home from the hospital when I had my surgery last year. You might also want to bring a firm pillow to use to help you get in and out of the car and to manage bumps in the road while traveling. I also wore shoes I could just slip on and off so that I didn't have to bend over to put them on.

Hope that helps some.

Barb

I wore sweatpants and a sweat shirt - big and comfty.. my ride home was less than a half hour , but I was happy to have my pillow with me.  I was very lucky I had no real problems with my lap RNY - little discomfort at all. Good Luck

I am planning on wearing a loose dress, a "tent" if you will....LOL!  I'm just gonna have to deal with the "braless" look on the way home!

I wore a pair of stretchy shorts (in a size 3x.. ) and a HUGE ole Tshirt.  I agree with everyone else.. GO BRALESS!

Yup, a big, loose, knit dress.  You are bigger leaving the hospital than going in, so keep that in mind.  You don't want anything pushing on your abdomen.  And slip-on shoes are nice.  Something that you're comfortable walking in, but are easy to get on.  I think I wore crocs actually.

I wore Crocs too!  I know that, because they are ALMOST all I wear!

I wore stretchy gaucho capris and a large fitting shirt. Like Barb, I did not wear a bra on the way home.  One of my incisions is right under the 'bra line' and I thought it might irritate it. My home is about 2 hours from Mercy and it was not a bad trip home. I had my surgery on Tuesday and came home on Wednesday.

I wore my jammies and a robe I didnt care what anyone would think . I did get dressed with lose fitting clothes but did not like how they felt on my tummy. If I took a dress I would have worn a dress home.

I took really loose elastic wasted wind pants, but with the 17 lbs of fluid I gained in hosp. they were not so loose. Knit may have been better. Myrtis
