My Introduction (Mission Hospital, Asheville?)

At my yearly physical this past Monday, my primary care physician encouraged me to look into Mission Hospital's Medical Weight Management Program.  I am now registered to attend an info session in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to learning more.  Has anyone else been through non-surgical and/or surgical weight loss help at Mission Hospital, Asheville?  Thank you!

Hello Shelli.  :)  Thank you for the welcome. Yes, I am just exploring my options at this point.  My primary physician told me that I have to go through the Medical Weight Management Program at Mission before even being considered for Gastric Bypass there.  That is fine with me.  :)  I am going to attend the information session about the Medical Weight Management Program two weeks from tomorrow.  Hopefully I will know a lot more after that and can attend a surgical info session soon after.   I see you are hoping to have surgery.  Wishing you the very best, and lots of patience as you wait!  :)

Welcome to the NC forum. I don't know of their program, but you might try posting on the main forum as well to see if you get a response there.

Please ask plenty of questions. I think that you will find this to be a supportive and informative place. I look forward to getting to know you as you make your way.

Good luck as you look at your options.

I would think any program Mission Hospital has would be top notch. My home town is Hendersonville and I went to Mission for any medical needs that would come up. I dont live in the area anymore but I still feel it's one of the best Hospitals in NC.

Lynn & Kelly, It feels good to have so many welcomes, thank you.   :)  I have had few experiences at Mission (knock on wood!), but every experience has been a positive one.  So glad to hear you feel it's one of the best in NC, Lynn.  I'll be happy to hear more about their programs, meet their doctors, etc.  Good luck to you both as you go through the process.  I'll look forward to hearing how you are doing and will be here cheering you on!

I am thinking to going to an information session there on surgical options, but haven't registered yet.  I tried The Solution there, one of my many weight loss attempts, but it just wasn't for me.  I don't know if they offer that program any more.  It was on Oprah a few years ago.  For me, I needed to see results on the scale and the focus was mostly on the psychological aspects of weigh gain.  I am sure it works for many people.  I do know they also offer Optifast.  Their website lists the three surgical options they offer and they have three surgeons who offer bariatric surgery.   Beka
