I went for my pre op visit for my lasiks they were going to do on my left eye on the 11th. My sight has improved so much since the last proceedure they did about 3 weeks ago I dont need to have lasiks on my left eye. I have been struggling to get my sight back for almost a full year ow. I had cateract surgery on both eys a month after my RNY. Ever since that time I have had multible eye exams and proceedures. I was starting to loose my sight mainly because of my morbid obesity and my type 2 diabetes. Thank God for modern day medicine. I posted a few new pics and a new avatar with my little buddie Zenny Bird.                                Annie

Hey Annie, That is great news!  I am preparing to have cataract surgery done on both eyes.  It has deteriorated so much in the past year...  I know you had a special procedure done that permitted you to have the Lasiks afterwards in case you needed it.  My vision is so bad, complicated by the fact that I had perforations in the retina in my right eye and a detached retina in my left eye.  Both eyes had surgery for those conditions, but now I am hoping that I won't have to wear contacts or any glasses other than reading glasses after I have the cataracts done.  What was the results of your research on all this? Thanks! Hugs to all the critters as well as to you and Lee!

Hi Suzanne, The lens they used for the cateract lens was called the Restor lens with this lens if lasiks is needed it can be done with this lens. Also my doctor said that with young people having cateract surgery there is more scar tissue to deal with. I wish you all the luck in the world with your eye surgery. There have been so many advances with eye surgery.                                             Annie

Hi Nancy, Yes Zenny Bird is quite a character indeed. In fact he acts like he is the king rooster but if we give him something new like straw or strings to play with he acts like a wanker(British slang term for wus). People ask how long did it take Zenny to become so bonded with me and we tell them just a few days. I am his person for sure.                                                Annie

I love the new avie! You look great! It really is good news about your eyes and I hope you continue to see better all the time. I have noticed changes in my eyes due to normal aging and am glad that there are so many ways to keep our eyesight. I love to see and want everyone to be able to see all the great things there is to see in the world!
