The scales are stuck!

Okay, I know that I should not be weighing every morning but..... It was exciting!! However, I have been the same weight for a solid week!!! Tomorrow will be 3 weeks for me. Am I doing something wrong? I wanted to have lost at least 40 pounds by the time I go back to work, which is July 7th. But I don't think I will make it! That would be 17 more pounds and I don't think I will do that in a week!

Thanks for letting me whine!!

It's normal. Your body is saying "WTF are you doing to me, WOMAN!" (Listen, it does actually yell in caps..) and so it's decided that since you are starving it, it will retaliate by holding on to every precious pound because it thinks it will die without it. Really, it's perfectly normal.  Sucks all the same.. but normal.

Thank you! I know what you mean, my body probably is hating me right now. Not use to getting such little amounts of food!

First of all, it's NORMAL ... Normal for your body to drop like a rock and then go on strike and hold on to every pound for dear life ... literally! Normal for you to freak out and think "I must be doing something wrong' Trust us. You aren't doing anything wrong. Stick with the program. You'll get there ... Slower than you want, faster than you can imagine! Normal for you get on the scale everyday even though it's going to drive you nuts. Remember that you can't drop a pound a day or even 2 lbs a week all the time, but when the scale is being stingy the tape measure is usually singing a much nicer tune. If you haven't done it yet, be sure to go to www.thinnerself.com and click on chart weights and inches. Write down all of your measurements and check it once a month. You will be absolutely AMAZED!!! Try not to set yourself up for disappointments. We all have goals, but let them be as reasonable as possible. Losing 40 lbs in less than a month, could stretching things ... even with WLS.

Be gentle with yourself and celebrate every single success!

I can soooooooooo relate!  It can be very frustrating. I've been losing the same five pounds for the past two months, thanks to a medication I've been taking.  I just kept slogging along, doing the stuff I know I'm supposed to do, not giving up, coming here to read posts from sensible people who've been through the same thing and lived to tell about it.  But it's a horrible feeling, and it takes an awful lot of patience, support, and positive self-talk to get through it. Thank goodness for this site and the amazing and reasonable advice from the folks here!

I was stuck for a few weeks after a big wt loss and everyone here said it was normal and it was.    A few months after surgery the scale stopped and i was so tired, it was hard to function.  I did have my thyroid tested (per the direction of my mom..u know they always know best) and sure enough it was low.   I was told this is common after any surgery and with menopause.  You take care and keep on doing what you need to do! Normal for women going through menapause never heard this one before Pam OMG one more thing to deal with along with the night sweats and hot flashes which are at bay with the black cohosh I am taking. Not sure I want to take hormones for menapause yet.                                             Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?

Docs don't want to give out hormones for menopause anymore as it causes a lot of other problems.   All I am taking is the synthroid which is a thyroid replacement hormone but nothing to do with our female crap.  LOL Pam
