X-post I am home!

Honey, I'm home! Well actually, I cam home yesterday, but after the car ride, all I wanted was a pain pill and sleep.  I think everything went really well.  For the most part, I felt great while in the hospital.  The worst pain (for me) was the gas pain, which FINALLY resolved itself yesterday (kind of...).  I had my first BM yesterday (which really surprised me) and I had a "wet fart" this morning (at least I was on the toilet, right?) so I am surprised that  things are moving down there and hope that they continue to do so. I am having to force myself to drink my protein.  Water is no problem becuase I do feel thirsty (which I know means I am possibly dehydrated which is why I am trying to stay on top of it) but I don't feel any hunger at all so I am forcing the protein drinks down.  Last night I had Unjury chicken soup protein and it was so nice to have a non-sweet protein.  This morning I am having Unjury chocolate and it is nice to have chocolate.  I have taken my carafate and my nexium.  I took my vitamin last night but I might take it in the mornings because it left a bitter taste in my mouth all night long. I have had a tiny bit of head hunger, mostly while watching TV with my husband (can you say food commercials every 10 seconds?  Grr!) but I got through it by sipping my water. Again, overall, I think everything went great.  I was up and trying to walk off the gas the night of surgery and walked who knows how many laps on day 2 and walked almost constantly yesterday.  I just hope things continue to go as smoothly as they have for the first few days!

Congrats and welcome to the losers bench!   Just remember to sip and walk even if it is just in the house (as so dang hot and humid outside). Take care, Pam

Sounds like you are doing really great.  I didn't get hungry until last night - but today I have not been hungry at all and last night after I ate some Jello I was not hungry anymore.  The gas is rough - I can relate to that.  Hang in there and keep sipping and walking

You sound like you're in good spirits which is great!  I know the protein shakes get old, but it's for a limited amount of time, and it's worth it to give your pouch a chance to heal.  Just keep on sipping and walking like you have been.  Welcome home and welcome to your new life!

So glad to see you home and posting!  Sounds like everything went great!  I am delighted for you!  Keep up with the walking; that will take care of the gas and help you stay free of pain, and of course it will strengthen you.  And sip, sip, sip! Congratulations!
