I had my surgery on June 6, 2008 and everything has been doing reall good and I have been able to handle everything that I have tried on the soft, pureed stage until today. I went to see my doctor on Tuesday and he said everything was going well. I asked him if I could try a scrambled egg and he said yes but some people cannot handle it early on. Well he was right I was able to get down half of one and within 5 minutes it came back up. I didn't feel sick it just came right back where it first began. I guess I won't try that until much later. It is amazing how I can handle wendy's chili and not a soft egg. I can even handle egg drop soup.

I am 15 months out and I still cannot eat eggs.  I don't throw them up, but my stomach feels like I've eaten tacks not eggs.  Seriously, I'd rather have nothing at all than eat them.  What your stomach can tolerate and what it can't will change over time.  I couldn't eat chicken until nearly a year out.  Now I don't have much problem.  Trial and error is the only way to really know what you can tolerate. Take care and good luck. Ellen

Oh no! James tried a scrambled egg with a bit of cheese today and said he ate about 1/4 of it and that was it. Thankfully, he didn't have an "episode" as I like to call them, but I doubt he'll be eating them again anytime in the future. He found that it's a bit too early for fish also.  He is just finding it hard to WANT to eat and doesn't know what he can eat... today he made meatless, no pasta lasagna. Basically, ricotta cheese, sauce, mozerlla, sauce and parmesian. He said it wasn't bad! HEHE! Ellen is right though-- it's very much a TRIAL and ERROR type thing.   How much have you lost so far?????????

I am over 3 months post surgery and scrambled eggs are still not my friend and i am to the point, i don't even like the thought of one.   I am able to eat a boiled or fried egg white which is healthier anyway as no cholesterol and 3.6 g of protein.   When i travel and have to eat breakfast out, that is normally what I get. Good luck, Pam p.s.   Wendy's chili is one of my favs and what i eat at least a few times a week.  (it helps that there is one on the corner where i live..lol)

I also tried an egg.....UGH.  I didn't throw up, but I did not feel well for  along time.  It could also have something to do with the fact that I didn't care for eggs before I had surgery (not scrambled or fried..I like boiled okay) I go see my surgeon tomorrow for a follow up.  He said I couldn't have meat until then., so I am looking forward to some Wendy's chili!

As Ellen said, it's a trial and error process. I am able to eat ANYTHING now and really have been since I was 6 months out. I was able to eat most things by 3 months, I just didn't try the things that were on my "Not until 6 months list" until I got there. I found eggs somewhat problematic early on, but it got better with time. Unlike others, I couldn't tolerate the egg whites or deviled eggs for quite a while. They just seemed to 'stick.' Now, I don't have any problem with them.

Go easy and eventually try them again, you'll find that your pouch really changes week to week ... especially in the first 6 weeks and up to the first 3 months.

I promise, it will get better ... much better.

Ditto on the eggs....it made me soooo sick as well.  My Doctor said that scrambled eggs can be a texture thing as much as the actual content.  I've been able to eat deviled eggs a little, but they are boiled and have a really moist center.  Scrambled eggs made me sick.  Go figure.  Like everyone said, it will be trial and error.  I'm 9 weeks out and still am unable to eat any meat protein - even pureed.   Good luck with your progress! I couldn't handle scrambled eggs either.  But I have switched to pouched eggs and have no problem at all.  Not sure why.  We have a local diner and my boss likes to meet me for breakfast.  So I get one pouched egg and it settles great! I haven't tried wendy's chili yet.  Im too scared.  My problem is if something makes me sick for some reason I can't throw up.  I spend about 20 minutes with very hard dry heaves that makes my chest hurt.  Then of course I'm so tired I can't stay awake afterwards.

Anniep59>>>>>>>>>>>>>will not do scrambled eggs. I had scrambled eggs as my food of choice at the start of the soft food stage well that was almost a year ago. After consulting with my partner in crime Lotawoman she told me about EGGBEATERS I can do them much better but still leary of eggs. Your pouch will make you notice things about foods. I still cant do steak and personally am ok if I dont ever do it again. Ground beef no problem.                                                 Annie
