A Big Wow Moment for Me!

I flew today to attend a conference and not only did I not spill over onto my neighbor's seat, but I was able to use the tray table.  When I flew in March, I was able to use the tray but it still kind of went up and down if I moved at all because it was right on top of me.  Now, the tray doesn't touch me anywhere!!!  I was also able to cross my legs during part of the flight.  I feel almost normal, but I don't think I'll ever take these things for granted.   Also, I still have a long way to go, but the scale did move 2.5 pounds last week - so my plateau has been broken.  Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement along the way.  I don't think the weight is going to come off as quickly now, so I better get in gear and exercise to make the most of my RNY "tool".

Congrats Rhonda on the wow. I know you were beaming when you realized the tray didnt move. I felt the same way when I sat in one of those white plastic lawn chairs and didnt have to pry it off when I got up! LOL Keep up the good work! Melissa

Oh yippee!  I love the "first flight after weight loss" moment!  I know exactly what you mean about feeling almost normal.  I still have those experiences all the time.  Movie theatres are a big one for me.  Last week we went to a late movie and I kept thinking, it would be nice to be reclining at home.  So, I just turned my body in the seat (because I had room to) and plunked my feet up in hubby's lap.  He turned to me and smiled, saying, look at you!  :)  Yeah!  Look at me!  Look at all of us!  Whoo hoo!

That is awesome! We flew for the first time after my surgery in December and like you, the tray would come down, but "sat" on my belly... the seatbelt fit though (without an extension!)  Anyway, we are flying again hopefuly in October and I can only imagine how different it will be.  Congrats on your WOW moment! Kudos on the 2.5 pounds. I'm at a stall myself and it's no fun. I have to get the exercise in gear also, so thanks for the reminder. :) Deb, too funny about the movies!!! you go girl!

You know that I've been sending some good voodoo to your scale. LOL I was, after all, returning the favor. As for the mile high "WOW" moment...I haven't flown yet but I am able to sit at my desk and pull my sliding keyboard shelf all the way out without it hitting my "stuff." So I kinda understand the tray table deal. Goods for you girl! xoxo Mare
