Learning to love ourselves
Barb, you are so right in what you posted. I think I've let go of what I lost because I can now focus on how much better I feel since I've lost most of the weight I want to lose. I try not to focus on the "sharpei" in the mirror and put a smile on my face because "I've come a long way baby". Maybe one day, I'll take the next step and have some of the skin taken care of, but if I don't, then I can be very happy just as I am!
Thanks Barb for a great post and to everyone else who has contributed to it.

Hey Barb! As you know, I've been struggling with this too. But you helped me so much on Saturday. I wore my new blue shirt you talked me into getting even though I thought it was too form-fitting with a Lilly skirt on Sunday night for a date with a doctor (one of those terrifying blind dates), instead of wearing black to make me look thinner. He told me I reminded him of Goldie Hawn when she was on laugh-in - what a fun compliment that was. I don't think I would have gotten the compliment "hiding" in black - ha ha! I actually got brave and wore the new sweater set to work yesterday with a black pencil skirt and felt fine in it. So - I thank you for the pep talk on Saturday - I really needed it! I agree about the needing to accept who we are - and I'm working on that really, really hard, along with grieving what might have been too.
