You are so sweet! Believe it or not the pants I had on yesterday (that I thought looked okay when I put them on) have a mechanism in the waist to cinch it in and I had done that ... I just hadn't looked at them from behind. I think that I'll have to retire them.

Annnnddddddd everyone was complimentary of you yesterday because you looked just fabulous. You wear this new you beautifully.

You may want to check with the public libraries in the area - or a local church.  Good Luck-  Iris

Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Iris,

Thanks for your suggestion. Our group is getting so large that we are too big for the local libraries. I am checking to see if there are some community centers that might be able to support us. I've checked with my congregation, but we have a charge for rooms. I'll keep checking.

I had the same idea that maybe a church or community center would have a space available on a regular basis. A lot of community centers require a deposit but if the space is put back in order after the event then the deposit is returned. I would be more than willing to help with my share of expenses and would be willing to stay after to help 'clean up'. The Saturday morning time is great for me.

Hey Barb, I'm in no matter what the cost.  The support group is a valuable tool we all can't afford to lose.  It's one thing to get feedback on the posting boards, but one on one support with a real live person that you can interact and talk with is invaluable.  Just tell me how much and where, and I am there.  It seems like several great ideas have been floated around for possible new venues.  I'm sure one of these ideas will pan out.    Also, it's only fair that we all contribute something.  You donating your time to pull this together is going above and beyond already.  You should not have to flip the bill as well.  We all benefit from this so we should share the cost. On a side note, my wife really enjoyed meeting everyone Saturday.  She says you guys are really awesome.  She is considering WLS and I think seeing all the success stories (especially you) has really encouraged her.  Keep us posted on how things progress. Thanks...Dalton

Hi Dalton,

First of all, I want you to know that I totally agree that the support is critical and while I find the online support a critical part of my WLS journey, I need and want the face to face support I get at our monthly meetings. It's different than the type I get at my dr's office. I feel like we are not only sharing experiences, but also developing relationships that, hopefully, willl grow and develop over the months and years. I feel like these relationships are particularly special and necessary to help me, and I hope all of us, help me learn to live at a 'normal' size. I think we can help to keep each other on track and accountable ... or to help each other get back on track if/when we need it.

All of that said, I'm working on new venue ideas and we'll definitely keep it going.

I truly enjoyed meeting Rose and look forward to getting to know you both better.

Warmly,

Barb

P.S. Thanks so much for your words of support. I truly appreciate it.

Barb, I was at Wake Med off of Kildare getting some tests for WLS and spoke with a nurse who said there is a room available at the hospital which is  used for classes and sometimes outside groups.   Karen said perhaps if you presented the meeting as Health/Obesity/Education, we would be able to hold our meetings there.
