Dr. Bauman is in Washington

Just wanted to pass along to y'all that Dr. Roc Bauman (my surgeon!) from Concord is in Washington at the big bariatric conference right now.  He was asked to present a paper he and partner, Dr. Jon Pirrello, put together.  Big honor!  I can't wait until he gets back and we get the info from the conference.  I'll pass along anything I learn!

Cool beans!  What's the topic of the paper?

I wish I knew the topic.  I was so excited when Dr. Pirrello told me about it yesterday that I didn't even ask the topic.  I'll find out and pass it along. I did ask Dr. Pirrello if we're going to do the Walk from Obesity again this year like last year, and he said absolutely.  I think it is in September.  They did a walk in Washington this week.   With Dr. Bauman out of town this week, Dr. Pirrello has been one busy fellow.  He also does trauma call and has some general surgery cases, too, and he has been SWAMPED.  I don't know how he ever sees his family.

Yeah, I remember going in with the hernia and just feeling like my hero had arrived when Jon walked into the ER!   He is amazing, and I am so glad we ended up at their practice!

Robin,  I called up to the unit yesterday and asked another nurse to ask Dr. Pirrello the topic of the paper, since she said he was right around the corner from her when I called.  He said it's on .... drumroll, please ... Peterson's hernias!   You know, Drs. Bauman and Pirrello have changed their technique over the last couple of years because of Peterson hernias, so I reckon he's published his technique and that's what it's about.  I'm sure he'll share it with us nurses eventually (the paper, that is). 

Thank you so much, that was really kind of you!  I remember Jon telling me about the new technique that they were doing and that they were seeing a huge reduction in hernias because of it.  That was Jan 2007.  I am so glad that they can share this with others.  Thank you!  (Geez, now I feel like a groupie!   

That is great!  I hope he gets a little bit of rest, though, he is doing my surgery on Thursday!!

Don't you worry ... he is always on top of his game!  I'm working Thursday, too, so if I'm not your nurse, please ask your nurse to tell me when you get there so I can come and see you!
