Hello friends, well, I had some complications from my colon cancer surgery and ended up in the emergency department on Sunday morning.  I had been feeling a lot of pressure in my bottom the  whole week after my grandmother's funeral.  I did what the docs said and rested, rested, rested.  Well, I wasn't eating right or drinking enough but I was resting!  Anyway, I had so much pressure in my bottom I could not sit down.  So in the ED, they ran bloodwork and had a CT scan done.  All my labs were fine.  The CT scan showed that I had an air pocket near my rectum where the colon was put together and I had a pocket of fluid near the larger incision and some stool in my colon. .  SOOOOOO, they admitted me into the hospital.  After 3 1/2 days, lots of fluids, x-rays, antibiotics, 3 doses of Milk of Mag, no food or drinking I finally got to feeling better and was released today.   I have to had another CT scan done on Tuesday and then go back to the surgeon's office for a check up.  I do feel much better although not 100% but maybe a night of good sleep in my bed will help. Now, my 8 month surgiversary is tomorrow!  When I left for the hospital I was down 95 pounds.  Well today when I got home I weighed and I'm down 100 pounds!  Hopefully, I will stay there after starting to eat and drink again but it sure was nice to see that 160 mark on the scale Well, I have lots of catching up to do on the boards and it will probably take a few days to do that! Take care!  Alice

Alice,

I've been wondering how you were doing after our last note. I'm glad to hear that you went to the hospital and were taken care of.

Congratulations on reaching the century mark.

I hope that you are now on the mend,

Alice,            I am so sorry you had to go through all that. I'm glad you are feeling better and that something positive came out of it, although I'm sure that isn't how you imagined getting to the 100 lb milestone.      I hope you will continue doing well. xoxo Mare

Alice, I'm so sorry I've been such a bad friend! I had no idea you were back in the hospital! Of course I've been dealing with James and his recovery so that has occupied most of my time. Anyway, I'm so glad to hear you are back home once again and feeling better! Hopefully that will be the end of the pain for you for a while (if not EVER!) Also, congrats on making the 100 mark! You look fantastic!!!! I hope we can get together soon and check out my post about an OH get together here in Greenville. I hope you are in town and can join us! Talk to you soon my friend! :)

Congratulations on the 160 mark that is great Alice. Glad you are doing better. As far as MOM I find that Miralax is at times my best friend. I have never forgotten your advice you gave me a few months ago about using the ducalax and eatting a few almonds. I have had no problem for about two months but things are changing again so back to your advise on a daily bases.                                              Annie

It is never too late to be what you might have been.?
