Dr. Bauman -fill Question

I have BCBS of NC and to date I have had 1 fill at my 6 week appt.  I called to schedule and I have to have a pre-approval appt. then maybe a fill in a week or two.  How smoothly does this process work?  Please give me any advice or experiences that you may have had...

Let me tell you................lol when I was first searching for a surgeon, they did not require pre-auth.  When it was time for my first fill I traveled 4 1/2 hours expecting to get a fill, only to find out I had to come back home and wait for approval- insurance changed during my 8 weeks!  I have no choice but to suck it up and travel back and forth.....good thing you live closer.  I have BCBS state emp. and they approve very quickly, tomorrow probably,,,,the office calls you and you get in in a day or two.  He doesn't fill on Fridays.  Last time I was there I stressed the inconvenience of this policy, and once he found out how far I traveled, they submitted it for immediate approval.  He said there was a meeting comming up soon with the board of directors and this was one of the issues they are going to discuss.  Untill then, I guess we've just got to be glad that we have such a great doc and know that the wait is worth it! Thanks Nancy....  I am almost 3 months 6/27 and I am at a stand still.  I had my first fill at the beginning of May, so I think that it is about time.  How many fills have you had??  You are doing so well, I see that you are almost at your 1 year mark..... Congrats. and continued success

I have BCBS NC and my doctors office gets approval the same day...I am not w/ Dr. B but the same insurnace. :-)

That information is good to know.. I am having my LapBand with Dr. Pirello tomorrow. He is in the same office with Dr. B...and I also have BCBS insurance... so that's a good point to remember.  Learn so much on this board.. and get such inspiration..  thanks

I had my third fill about 3 weeks ago, and I think this was probably the one untill my goal.  A little sure does go a lot!  Good luck! Nancy
