This isnt meant to scare any of you out there but its important to know how serious certain issues can be post-op... because of the nature of the surgery a simple pain can quickly turn into much more - always listen to your body and your heart when it comes to these matters. Its also good to note that complications can occur at any time for any reason no matter  how far you are out from surgery. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/rny/a,messageboard/action, replies/board_id,5465/cat_id,5065/topic_id,3638348/

When Dr. K took out my gallbladder on May 19th he repaired TWO of those herniations.  That is why I am thankful that we both had our bariatric docs do our GB removals as well.  I was not aware that this type of thing could happen until he told me prior to my surgery that he would give me a quick RNY "tune-up" and make sure that none of those hernias had manifested.  :)  Good advice Jenn!

Some people think its 'stupid' not to have the GB removed at the time of surgery - I am glad my surgeon did not.  When he went in for the GB removal he removed scar tissue and fixed a slight bowel obstruction - the only way to know of those things is to have them bother you, or to go inside and look!! So I am thankful as well!

Hey Jenn,      No matter what you post, I always seem to learn a little bit more about what I thought I knew already. Thank you for being so thorough because I truly rely on this site for so much more information than even my doctor's office can give me.        Mare

I get a lot out of this site too - its really a valuable tool!! I think people that just 'move on' are making a mistake... even just popping on once a month or so you really cant keep up with all the latest developments!
