I Want To Be Clear Here

When I posted the link to Bandstergirl's video of her Lapband fill yesterday it was in no way, shape or form meant to offend my Lapband friends or deter anyone from seeking Lapband. I just found it really fascinating and, well, pretty darn cool!      I am not one who is afraid of needles so that was not a deciding factor for me to have RNY. The surgeon I used was not doing Lapband at the time I sought him out so it wasn't even an option for me.       I salute you all...no matter what type of surgery you had or are seeking to have. It was in no way an attempt to say "Ew! Look at what those crazy Lapsters do." Trust me, I know that going in and cutting off most of your stomach and bypassing a huge portion of your intestines and leave 'em just hangin' out in there isn't exactly appealing either. LOL      I have seen the ugliness on the Main Forum, battles about who had the better surgery. Please! I don't have the time or the energy to waste on such ridiculous drama.       No matter what, we are all in this together. Our goal is the same and my intentions were good. Sorry if anyone took it for anything other than what it was.  *sigh*      That said...today is 4 months out for me (and Becky Boo too.) I am 69 lbs down since surgery and a grand total of 117 from my highest weight. I am still stalled, as I posted the other day, but feeling absolutely fabulous. So much so that I am currently looking to go back to work. I finally feel physically able and mentally ready to get back out into the world. Look out people! She's Baaaaaaaaaaaaack! Nuthin' but love for ya!  Double Kiss  Mare

And I'm going to be equally clear. Anyone who thought you were trying to deter or dennigrate banders is way off-base. I went there 'cause I've been curious about fills too.  I'm not needle-phobic and just thought that was cool.  So hats off for you educating us.  I appreciate it.

Hi Andrea,      No one actually took offense, I don't think. But a few responders seemed like they felt they had to defend their decision, which none of us EVER have to do. I respect everyone's choice and don't want them to feel they have to defend it to me...or anyone else. I just wanted to clarify my reason for the post. Thanks for having my back though. Love ya kid!! Mare

I definitley was NOT offended!  Although my personal experiences with fills are different then what was shown on the video.  When I get a fill I get lidocaine to numb the skin then he just sticks the needle right into my port and gives me the "juice"!!LOL  No fishing around like it showed in the video.(that was gross)   I LOVE MY BAND!!  And I'd do it again if I had to!  I've only had to have 2 fills and still have great restriction.  The fills are worth it to me, although needles don't bother me. LOL BE BLESSED! Andrea

oh lawdy *eye roll* As a reminder to anybody who complained - there are videos out there of RNYers dumping.. that can be pretty scary too! How bout some videos of the floating poo some people get when eating too much fat? Too bad you cant video smells lmfao.  Each surgery has its ups and downs, better to go in prepared then blindly.

You know it is funny how we write things and then go back and read them and see where we may have come across hurtful... I want to say - If I hurt anyone please forgive me...  I think because the very first person I knew ( sister of a co worker ) that had weight loss surgery , had a band and did not do well, she then had the RNY and was a complete sucess.  I sometimes forget and all you lovely Gals that have done GREAT with the band... Chances are if I had done more research I may have even chosen the band - but it all goes back to the story of the one that failed.. Now of course I hear of people re gaining weight after the RNY --- so really we are all sisters and everyone of us wants the same goal --- be happy with ourselfs etc... So you all please forgive me, I never ever would want to hurt you or make you dis like me.  Allison

I hope my post didn't worry you. I am a big sissy when it comes to needles and I picked my type of surgery because of it. I will have an RNY. But I really have nothing but complete respect for anyone that goes through any of these procedures and for what any of them have had to endure in life before having the procedures. I know it can't be easy and expect mine will have its challenges. I did appreciate the video and still feel I chose correctly for me.

Girl no offense here at all.....like I said if there was one perfect surgery then there would only be one but there are choices for everyone and everyone has the choice to get what they want for whatever reason. I  for one NEVER go out on the main forum so I would have never seen it...so Thanks for sharing.  I really hope no one took offense to it....it was just sharing info. :-)
