Ok you guys. I'm gonna rant a little bit. I am 2 daze away from 4 months out. I am grateful and thrilled for so many wonderful feelings and changes I have gone through BUT...I have lost only 9 lbs in the past 4 weeks. What gives?       Yes, I know that is 9 lbs more than I would have lost on my own. It's just starting to get me down. I have been focusing more on my protein and I am moving more than ever before. Still nothing. I keep expecting to hop on that @#%%#@ scale and see a huuuuuge jump. *sigh*      My body feels different even though the numbers don't show it. I am pleased with the results so far and I'm not looking for a "Ooooh, but you look wonderful, blah blah blah." I guess this is just part of the "uh oh" syndrome, right?      Perhaps when I measure, the tape will tell the true tale. We'll see. It's just frustrating as all get out. I'm also wondering how long your longest stall was.      There. I'm done whining. Have a good day. Mare

I've just got to tell you how happy you look in your new pic. Maybe it's one of those dreaded stalls that I've been reading so much about.. Regardless of what the scales say you look fantastic. Good Job and kep up the good work. - Iris

Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be bent out of shape.

Hey my surgery sistah!!!! Just know you aren't alone - I feel the SAME way. I just keep trying to remind myself that slow downs happen and that my body is changing even if the scale isn't. I can't wait to measure on Thursday because I've been with the personal trainer now for 6 weeks and I sure hope it shows!!!! Oh ---- and you do look wonderful. I bet you feel even better. I know I do. Take care! xoxo Becky

It sucks when you know intellectually how something is working, but can't grasp it emotionally. I *know* that I will have a stall every x days.  It will last x days.  I *know* this.  Does it hurt any less when it happens?  Nope.  It still sucks, almost 4 years out. I think my longest stall was about 2 months.  It was a long time ago, though, and I'm a bit fuzzy.  (Actually, I'm fuzzy on my name this morning.. be impressed I'm not gibbering too incoherantly!)  My current stalls tend to run 10 days where I'll gain and lose the same .5-1.5 lbs.  I also tend to have 2 per month.  It still sucks. Sometimes we have to whine.  The fact that you whined intellectually and didn't ask for rainbows and sparkles gives you a big thumbs up in my book.

I feel your pain.  This is where it helps to have a look at the profiles of those who have been so good about logging in their monthly losses throughout their journey.  That's what I do when I am feeling ll alone.  Go to Jennifer's ("I eat carbs") profile and check ouit her numbers.  Hers is one of the better ones.  Sometimes we need to compare notes and identify.

((((((Mare)))))),

I know it's scary when the scale doesn't keep marching downhill at the pace we had become accustomed to, but remember that your body is doing all it can to hold on to those 'precious' resources that we are trying so hard to get rid of. If you haven't don't it yet, do yourself a favor and go to www.thinnerself.com and plug your numbers into his chart weights and inches form. I think that you will find that you are actually doing very well. The information on that site is taken from a number of large studies that is broken down by demographics, so that can see what the average for someone your age, height and weight, who is in the same place in their journey did. I think it will give you some piece of mind as you realize that you are losing at a good pad pace and that you are likely to continue to lose. I think that the scary thing, is the thought that "Oh my goodness, I haven't lost enough yet and I'm not ready for the weight loss to stop." I know that plagued me ... I think I posted about that.

Hang in there. It will get better.

Barb

P.S. BTW to see my stalls, you can look at my 'tracker' on my profile ... while they seemed to last an eternity, I think they only lasted a couple of weeks and I'm not sure that yours would count as a stall since you've lost 9 lbs ... it's more like a slowdown. ;-)

I agree with what everyone is saying and don't have too much more to add....lol. Our bodies do have a way of doing things on their own. I can tell you that during my 11 months on this ride that I can count at least 3 to 4 times pretty early out where I lost 1 pound per week for a period 3 weeks. Talk about mind games...many a time I thought what the heck....I could have done this on my own without the gut reworking but then as I look back over the time...yes, it took me a bit longer than others but the fact is I am here and that is the most important thing. I think we want it yesterday.....ya know. I know for me I am just thankful that I have a normal BMI at long last and perhaps for once I can maintain. I have lost successfully many a time....I just want to flippin maintain forever. I have yo yo'd so many times, it would be better than great for me to be a stable weight. I don't know.....just my two cents Mare. You are doing awesome and let things progress as they are and relax! Keep on taking steps that you are and it will all be OK in the end.

I feel like I am also glued to my scale... 9 lbs is great! I will stall out for a few weeks at a time then suddenly lose a few lbs.. STOP weighing yourself and get that tape measure out!!! I can already tell by your photos that you have dropped weight and are starting to look more and more like Janice Soprano!! WOOHOO keep your chin up Pean.. it WILL come off!!
