OT: Graduation

I posted Friday about being frustrated with insurance and emotional over my son's graduation and I thak yall for your replies. I made it through graduation Friday night without crying. It was hotter than blazes but it was wonderful.

My son asked for a cookout as his way of celebrating. Well it turned into a pig pickin with over a 100 folks there And he cooked the pig.(he's 17 and makes the best BBQ I've ever had). As a single mom with 2 teenage sons it can be hard to really focus 100% on them and pull off big surprises -BUT - I managed to surprise him in the middle of the party, I got him a boat, motor and trailer and had it delivered while everyone was there. It was perfect because I have never seen my son speechless - then he cried. He was always out on the water with his Daddy and Granddaddy before they died and after my Dad died my mom sold the boat. So this was a coming full circle sort of gift.  I'm absolutely exhausted today but all in all my son had a great weekend.  Thanks for reading I know I've rambled. -Iris

Iris - My son graduated from high school last year, so I can relate to those emotions.  I am SO GLAD that you made it through his graduation, and you really should be proud of how well he has apparently turned out!  You sound like an amazing woman to be able to do everything you do and to have pulled off your surprise.  I know you're a lucky mom, but you have two lucky sons as well!
