A mini wow for me (xpost)
I'm slowly transitioning from walking to jogging. Today, I was going to up my intervals to 5 minutes, but decided to just jog until I couldn't anymore.
I stopped at 15 minutes. I decided to take a quick breather and do another 15 min, and was 5 min into that one when I got a stitch (OMG it hurt).
But my point is that I was able to do 15 min without stopping. I was shocked (and elated) as hell :-)
Just thought I'd share.

Holy smokes Andrea, that's awesome! I'm starting the couch to 5 K running program again myself. I so want to be able to run a 5K! It's a gradual bump up from walking to running. Of course, it sounds like you're doing just fine on your own, but here's the info if you're interested: The plan is at http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml I've also downloaded free podcasts to listen to while doing the plan (they tell you when to run and when to walk along with music in-between.) Those are at: http://www.ullreys.com/robert/Podcasts/
Congrats to both of you. I don't know if I will ever be able to run again. I am one of those with what I call a do-flap I think normal people call it an apron. I am happy for you that you have made such an accomplishment. You are fortunant to get the surgery so young before your body falls apart. But I am fortunant also, My mobility has greatly increased and my knees are much happier. Ye ha to WLS...ain't it grande.

Hey Andrea (and Deb),
I did that same program a few years back. It's great! You're both going to feel SO WONDERFUL when you run that st 5K and finish! It gave me chills the 1st time I did it (which was the Race for the Cure in 2001). Then I ran a half-marathon in Sept. 2001 and I cried when I crossed the finish line. It was truly an unbelievable feeling! And I'm totally jealous of the both of you since one of my main goals is to run another half marathon or 2. BTW, I ran the half weighing in at 230 pounds! Can you imagine? I'm SO looking forward to finding out what it feels like to feel light on my feet.
You gals ROCK!! See my envy.....
