Osteoporosis question
OK, guys, I listened to my answering machine this morning....the light doesn't blink any more. Anyhow, I got notice that I have "some" osteoporosis. I knew my bariatric surgeon suggested we have a bone density done yearly so I went in and had one done and there you go. So, does anyone have any advice? I will be calling and scheduling an appointment and see what plan of action to take. Does anyone have any experience with this? Not the news I wanted to hear but we will deal. Thanks for all your help in advance.
Lisa
Ive got to have my bone test soon. My doc said that if I showed some concern then I would have to up my calcium. I know I have some bone loss from my ortho doc when he did an MRI a month or so ago. He said that some bone loss was normal with such a drastic weight loss as we experience, but I am waitin on the final word when Dr. K. sees the results of my bone scan.
Hey Lisa. .keep us posted.
Hi Lisa,
I was diagnosed with "osteopaenia" some years ago when I had a bone density scan. It is like the precursor to osteoporosis. I was taking those preventative meds for quite a while but gave them up after WLS because they are so hard on the stomach. I have another bone density scan coming up the first week of July and I will let you know what they say.
As Gilda Radner used to say: "It's always something!" (and my mom used to say "And it doesn't ever get any better!")
