Struggling on Friday
Oh there is so much going on in my head right now. I still don't have insurance approval from CIGNA yet. I decided to call thiem this morning and check on things and the Good Lord knew I needed something so I get this incredible woman on the phone named Amanda and she puts me on hold to check on things as nothing in the way of approval shows up on her computer. She comes back and asks me why I'm having RNY done as an outpatient. I told her I didn't think that was the case. So back on hold I go. She came back and said that was indeed where my file had landed and gave me a n 800 fax number to call my docs office (Southern Surgical) and have them fax a request that the file be moved to inpatient for authorization and that I should have my answer in 72 hours. Where the file is now will only determine if it's medically necessary and not even get me approved.
While I'm grateful and thankful that I'm making progress I'm getting caught up in the fact that this should have been done over 3 weeks ago.
And today is a bitterweet day. My oldest son graduates from highschool tonight. For that I am overjoyed. This is a milestone that this kiddo has worked hard to accomplish. The bittersweet part is that his Daddy won't be there to see it becasue he died 6 1/2 years ago.
I'm an emotional train wreck today.

You do have a lot of emotional stuff to deal with today. I hope they get your records to the right place and your approval comes through quickly.

Iris,
You have good reason to be emotional today. Your son's graduation is tough enough but then throw in the insurance problems is enough to send your nerves into orbit. But the thing is that you are handling things. You will get through this!

Sorry you are having a bunch of B.S with your insurance company. Once they approve, it will make it all worth it. Let your son know that his Daddy will be there with him in spirit and would be proud of his accomplishments. It is really hard to watch our babies grow up. My son graduated last year and went off to college in August. The first few weeks were horrible but after i adjusted, i really started to enjoy the house.
Take care and God bless,
Pam
