Payments

I am in the process of getting all of my pre-op testing.  I know i have to pay co-pays/fees for these.  My question is will Dr. Mann (Southern Surgical) and Pitt require my deductible and copays in advance or will these be billed to me after the surgery?  I'm trying to figure out when to get the $ from my  401K plan.

I don't know in regards to surgery, but when I pre-registered to have my kiddos at Pitt, the paperwork stated they had to have the copay.  I called about it and they said no, that I could make payments each month. So I'm guessing that Pitt will do this for you, too. My surgeon (long ago, in a galaxy far far away) did require me to pay his copay up front.. in fact, it was required before they even made the surgery date.

The day that I went in to schedule my surgery with SS ( Dr.nazari) the nurse called my insurance (BCBS) and asked if I had a copay. I didn't, but I think that you pay that the day you schedule. That way it is already taken care of for you. Hope this helps. Danielle

I'm going to have to raid my 401 as well. My new deductible year starts all over again on July 1 so I'm frustrated. Plus I just got wind that our out of pocket amount is going up this year. I love having insurance but I hate all the red tape that comes with it.

I have BCBS of NC and I submitted my enrollment fee.  They denied it of course, didn't even put it toward anything, BUT my medical reimbursement will refund it if I have a letter from the doctor stating why I needed the surgery and what the enrollment fee covers.
