Okay Dr. P called because Dr. Pratt called him about my plastic surgery!  Dr. P is concernend that I'm losing too much or rather have lost too much weight???? Is that possible???? Anyway he asked me what happened if I ate a bowl of ice cream.  I don't get sick that's for sure...lol but he wants me for the next 2 months to eat high calorie/high protein things and to track what I'm eating!  He actually wants me to eat a bowl of ice cream every night!  Wow!!!!   He mentioned that after the skin removal-my weight would possibly be down another 5-7lbs....(not sure I have that much excess skin but I hadn't thought about my weight going down anymore) he also said that would put me in better shape for the surgery and aid in the healing process!  Sooooo.....I'm exicted.  He said realistically for me to shoot for surgery around Sept. 15th. That would be 18months from my gastric bypass surgery date!

That is awesome!  Have you seen a few plastic surgeons to see who you are most comfortable with?     Good luck on the next step of your journey! Pam

I've only done the 1 consult...but I was very pleased with Dr. Pratt.  He specializes in patients who have had weight loss surgery.  He was very informative and I was impressed.  He spent a lot of time with me-my appt was at 2pm and I didn't leave until 4:30pm.  I will probably check out a couple of more but....we'll see!

I am all about support, so if for any reason you just CANNOT do the bowl of ice cream every night...I shall carry the torch for you, my friend.  Ice Cream  DO keep me posted... Mare

Mare I love your support!  I couldn't ask for a better friend.  Most people just aren't willing to eat ice cream for you!   Speaking of which it's like 12:23am and I need to go eat a bowl NOW!!!

I am a patient of Dr. Bauman's. I am coming up on my 6 month aniversary and have lost all but about 18 pounds. I want to have a hernia repair/tummy tuck but am afraid they will want me to wait a long time. If we have lost our weight do we still have to put it off? Dr. B is concerned that I too will loose more than I need to. Which surgeon did you use for your plastics? I am from Salisbury but figured I will need to find someone in Charlotte.

Thanks, and you look great!

Most of the time they like for your weight to be stable for about 6 months. I think we have some skin elasticity improvement as time goes on. I understand the desire to get it done.. I have seen some on the PS board that have had surgery sooner. I was about 18 months post-op when I had my TT. B

I saw Dr. Broc Pratt with Metrolina Plastic....he specializes in Patients who have had weight loss surgery.  He is the first and only consult I've had....when Dr. P called today he said he typically liked patients to wait until 18 months post op.  I have bottomed out on my weight really early and he doesn't think I can stand to lose anymore...I forgot to add that he also wants me to eat 2 strips of bacon a day!  It can't get any better than that.  I eat constantly-small portions but it is frequent and I eat whatever I want...typically only meat anyway!  I have fallen in love with crab legs from Hooters!!!

If you are going thru your insurance company they typically require you to be 18 months post-op, you would have to call yours for the guidelines. As for waiting - I saw DrEaves at Charlotte Plastic Surgery and his requirement was to be done losing and maintain a steady weight at least 3 months prior to having surgery. He also had a few other requirements but they were patient specific...

First visit to surgeon - 288 ~ bmi 45.1
2 week pre-op 252 ~ bmi 39.5
Total lost - 153 Since surgery - 117!
Goal weight - 155 (mine) 180 (surgeons)
Current weight - 135 (2020 I lost 10lbs due to dedicating myself to working out more and being in better shape)

1/14/2025 still maintaining 135 :-)

Extended TT, lipo, fat injections - 11/2011

BA/BL/Arm Lift - 7/2014

Scar revision on arms - 3/2015

HALO laser on arms/neck 9/2016

Thigh Lift 10/2020

Thigh Lift revision 10/2021

I had 11.5 pounds of skin and fat removed from my belly. I think if it was just skin it would have been about 5 pounds. B
